Bruce Suffers From Debilitating Illness
Bruce Willis retired from acting about two and a half years ago following a diagnosis of aphasia. It’s a condition that affects communication abilities. Follow-up medical tests confirmed a more specific diagnosis of frontotemporal dementia (FTD).
FTD, per Hopkins Medicine is a progressive condition that impacts cognitive functions and can lead to memory loss. Symptoms can also include motor control issues, similar to those seen in Parkinson’s disease, affecting balance and movement.
Behavior changes, such as eating challenges or impaired judgment, and difficulties in understanding language may also arise. Currently, there is no cure or specific treatment for frontotemporal dementia, and symptoms worsen over time.
A Difficult Time For Family
His family openly mentioned concerns about his condition. Bruce Willis’s wife, Emma Hemming, discussed the demanding nature of coping with it. For now, his family look after his comfort and safety during this sad period.
Bruce Willis doesn’t go out much and if he does, it would be carefully arranged, as he requires constant support. Unfortunately, he is reportedly still diminishing, something that’s unlikely to improve. Apparently, he started to struggle with recognising some people.
Bruce was a very talented and well-loved actor before he fell ill. So, many fans appreciate glimpses into his family life. It seems very sad, but plenty of folks can relate to illnesses like his.
