BTS is currently on hiatus due to all of its members being enrolled in the mandatory military service required for South Korean citizens.
Right now, all fans want to know is how long this hiatus could last and when it would be safe to start looking forward to the reunion of one of the biggest boy groups in the world. Well, we’ve just done the math and 2025 is our safest bet.
When Did BTS Members Join The Army
Even though fans continue to enjoy music from Jungkook and V – global superstars in their own right – we can’t help but feel that something is missing. And that something, of course, is BTS.
Okay, in 2022, all seven members of the k-pop group BTS were enrolled in the mandatory military program that usually runs for about 18 – 21 months.
Prior to the announcement, politicians had argued that BTS should be exempted from serving due to their vast contributions to music and arts in South Korea and around the world.
(It’s not uncommon for people who are deemed exceptional in their fields, like athletes and artists, or those who have participated in certain competitions that directly bring prestige to their nation, to be exempted from the service.)
However, all arguments died down when the group’s management company announced that all seven members planned to serve their term for as long as it may be.
In December, BTS’ oldest member Jin became the first to join the army after he officially withdrew his request to postpone his conscription.
Military Service Discharge Dates For BTS Members Disclosed
After months of speculations, the dates for the boys’ release is out and fans can’t help but be excited that it’s almost over.
Jin: June 12, 2024
J-Hope: October 17, 2024
Suga: June 21, 2025
RM: June 10, 2025
Jimin: June 11, 2025
V: June 10, 2025
Jungkook: June 11, 2025.
Looking at the dates, Suga’s release a week after RM, V and Jungkook’s could possibly be all that will stand in the way of one of the biggest boy bands reuniting next year.
Suga, whilst being the last to join the military in late 2022, will complete his mandatory service as a public service worker (without the mandatory training) due to health reasons.
