Ever since former Hallmark star Candace Cameron Bure spoke of “traditional marriage” in an interview, she has been slammed for being anti-gay. Now, new information has surfaced about Bure’s actions, while trying to have a Fuller House character removed from the show. In fact, Miss Benny, who played Casey in the series, posted a video to TikTok about “one of the Tanner sisters” wanting her role axed. Meanwhile, Bure has responded to the claims made in the clip.

Fuller House star claims Candace Cameron Bure wanted queer character out of the show

On Thursday, Glamourous star Miss Benny, who has since come out as transgender, posted a video to TikTok. In the clip, she claims “one of the Tanner sisters” wanted to axe her role as Casey on Fuller House. This apparently happened in season 4, when she was playing the first-ever queer character on the show.

In her TikTok, she says, “I was on Fuller House, I played Casey, the first gay character on the Full House franchise, adding:

One of the Tanner sisters is very publicly ‘not for the girls’ if that makes sense? [And] I remember I got sat down by the writers and the studio to basically warn me how this person, allegedly, was trying to get the character removed and not have a queer character on the show.

While Miss Benny never directly used Bure’s name, she then claimed, “I was also sort of warned and prepared that this person’s fan base might be encouraged to target me specifically.”

She then claimed: “So, to this day – despite working on the show every day for two weeks straight – I have only had a conversation with one of the Tanner sisters.”

Candace Cameron Bure responds to TikTok post

While the TikToker never mentioned Bure’s name, the former Hallmark star released a statement to ET, denying that she had tried to get the gay role canceled. The statement read:

I never asked Miss Benny’s character to be removed from Fuller House and did not ask the writers, producers or studio executives to not have queer characters on the show.

Fuller House has always welcomed a wide range of characters.

The Great American Family actress said she thought Miss Benny did a great job as “Casey” on the show. She said they didn’t share any scenes together, so they didn’t get a chance to talk much on set. Bure concluded by saying, “I wish Miss Benny only the best.”

Meanwhile, although Miss Benny said she didn’t fully understand the alleged negativity toward her character, she found the role to be rewarding. She concluded:

The positive is I had a really fun time shooting the show with all the other actors who were willing to talk to me and the show ultimately led to me being on Glamorous on Netflix. So everything happens for a reason.
