While it’s possible to say that you’ve never seen the actor and dancer out of shape and still be right, he wouldn’t quite agree with you.
Channing Tatum Is Serious About His Fitness
The 41-year-old actor appeared on The Tonight Show on Wednesday to promote his first children’s book, The One and Only Sparkella, available now.
While on the show, he told Jimmy Fallon that the form he’s got right now didn’t come right at the beginning of the pandemic and its lockdowns. According to him, he didn’t start out transformed into the “completely new person” that he is today.
“For the first week or two weeks, I definitely was just drinking beers and riding dirt bikes but I was like, ‘I can’t do this for two months. This is bad,'” Tatum explained.
The 21 Jump Street star then recalled the days when he and a friend of his “just went really, really hard” after the momentary lapse in healthy living and trained every day.
“And it was great — I mean, I came out a completely new person,” he added.
“How big did you get drinking beers and riding dirt bikes?” Fallon, 46, asked his guest.
“Pretty fat. I would say, you know, college 10 — a nice 10 lbs. And then I took it off,” Tatum replied.
The host then brought up a black-and-white photo of Tatum that the actor previously shared on Instagram back in September. The picture was that of a shirtless Tatum showing off his incredible fit frame in a selfie. “It’s like looking in a mirror,” the host quipped.
Fallon then noted that the actor got into shape for his upcoming movie Dog, in which he will star in as well as make his directorial debut.
Channing Tatum’s Upcoming Movie Projects
Apart from the movie Dog, the actor was also in final talks to appear alongside Sandra Bullock in the action-packed romantic comedy, The Lost City of D, as of December.
The film plot will follow a romance novelist (played by Bullock, 56) who is afraid of going on a book tour with the steamy male model (played by Tatum, 41) on the cover of her latest book. Sparks start to fly for the unlikely couple when a kidnapping attempt drives them into a world of thrilling adventure laced with dangerous circumstances.
According to a report by Variety back in October, Ryan Reynolds was previously attached to the role. This would have made it the first time that Reynolds, 44, would be reunited with Bullock for the action rom-com since the two last starred together in the 2009 comedy The Proposal.
