Charlie Sheen On DWTS? Alum Cheryl Burke Reveals Why He Backed Out

A fun fact that some may not know is that actor Charlie Sheen was once supposed to do Dancing With The Stars (DWTS); however, he backed out of the reality television dancing series.

DWTS alum, Cheryl Burke recently revealed the reason why Sheen didn’t do the show during her Sex, Lies, and Spray Tans podcast.

Burke notes during a hiatus, she received a call from Denna Katz, DWTS casting director, and was told that a “huge name” wanted to do the show and wanted Burke to train him.

Cheryl states during the podcast that she was hesitant to be the one to “convince” someone to do DWTS as she hates lying and doesn’t want to sugarcoat the process.

She goes on to explain that the dance training during DWTS is rigorous. Burke states that while the result is beautiful, “it’s freakin’ a lot of work.”

Cheryl notes that she and Sheen did have one dance session where she taught him some steps and bonded over substance abuse issues.

Burke states that while she’s sober now, for six years, she had compassion for Charlie, and he seemed “cool”.

Charlie Sheen – Was Hesitant About The Media Attention

Cheryl goes on to state that Sheen asked some questions about press and interviews, and she let him know that this was something that DWTS contestants sign up for when doing the show. She adds he was nervous about the media attention and possible criticisms about his performance.

Burke tells Richards that Sheen was critical of himself right away, saying “I suck at this,” where she tried to remind him that it was only his first few steps.

Still, ultimately, Sheen decided to not do the show, even though Cheryl believes he would have been great.

His ex, Denise Richards, did not agree with Burke, jokingly stating during the podcast that Charlie doesn’t like to work, and there’s so much physical activity with dancing.
