The “Hot Shots” actor Charlie Sheen recently revealed where he stands in his relationship with ex-wife Denise Richard following their divorce in 2006.
In an interview with People published on December 13, the actor told the outlet, that he and Denise are “absolutely friendly,” despite being divorced for nearly 18 years.
The “Wall Street” actor went on to say that he and the “Love Actually” actress “Went through so much s–t together that I don’t think either one of us has any energy left to be divisive.” Charlie said that he and Denise were able to put their differences aside and work together to raise their two daughters.
“The only thing that matters is the kids,” said Charlie before adding, “We knew we had to park our nonsense and focus on the children, because they had nothing to do with any of our crud.”
He continued, “Even in the hottest portions of depths of the inferno, we were still able to maintain a perspective that yes, the children need to come first. Now we’re super friendly, and we’re actually able to process so much of it through humor these days.”

The “Bookie” actor, 58, and the “Wild Things” actress, 52, tied the knot in 2002 after dating for two years, however, their marriage wasn’t a happy one as Charlie had serious drugs and alcohol addiction. Their marriage produced two daughters Sami, 19, and Lola, 18.
In 2005, when Denise was pregnant with her last child Lola, she filed for divorce from Charlie and went on to seek a restraining order against him, on the grounds that he made death threats against her. The following year, their divorce was finalized.
Charlie went on to marry Brooke Mueller in 2008 and their marriage produced twin boys Max and Bob, 14. They divorced in 2011. Denise on the other hand, adopted her 12-year-old daughter Eloise in 2011, and in 2019 she tied the knot with Aaron Phypers who went on to adopt Eloise as his daughter.
Charlie who once revealed that January will mark 6 years of his sobriety told PEOPLE, “I was like, ‘I’m going to give it a month, just see if I feel any better, and if my interactions with those that are closest to me improve. And they did. And I’m like, ‘All right. I’m going to go another month.’”
