Cher Files To Be Her Son’s Conservator Following Continued Severe Substance Abuse

Cher is determined to curb her son’s excessive substance use and get his mental health on track for recovery. To do this, she has requested the court to grant her the rights of becoming her son’s conservator.

If she wins the right, it means Elijah Blue Allman could have a healthier 2024 than he might have had if he continued with his downward spiraling case of severe addiction.

Cher Is Afraid That Her Son Will Spend His Funds On Drugs And Wants To Cut Off This Supply

Cher wants to cut off the head of the dragon. If drugs are the problem, then she plans to make sure that her son doesn’t have the means to acquire it.

In the court filing obtained by PEOPLE, she also stated that he is no capacity to manage his funds at the moment.

Cher Files To Be Her Son's Conservator Following Continued Severe Substance Abuse

Before the end of this year, Elijah is entitled to receive assets from trust, but before he does that, his mother is convinced he is no position to manage that amount of money.

She argues that a conservator is “urgently needed … to protect Elijah’s property from loss or injury” because he is “currently unable to manage his assets due to severe mental health and substance abuse issues.”

In the document, Cher makes it clear that his estranged wife, Marieangela King, cannot act as his conservator because their tumultuous relationship has been nothing but “a cycle of drug addiction and mental health crises.”

The filing continues, “Elijah is entitled to regular distributions from the Trust, but given his ongoing mental health and substance abuse issues, [Cher] is concerned that any funds distributed to Elijah will be immediately spent on drugs, leaving Elijah with no assets to provide for himself and putting Elijah’s life at risk.”

Cher Worked Tirelessly To Get Elijah the Treatment He Deserves While Marieangela Accused Her of “Kidnap”

Some while ago, Marieangela accused her mother-in-law of kidnapping her husband Elijah and even denying him access to a phone. Meanwhile, in reality, Cher had only taken her son to a facility where he can get help.

Per the filing, the singer-songwriter “worked tirelessly to get Elijah into treatment and get him the help he needs.”

“[Cher] loves Elijah immensely and has always acted with his best interests in mind,” the filing states, adding that she has been “unable to discuss his preferences concerning the appointment of a temporary conservator” because of his “current mental and physical health issues.”

The hearing for the temporary order is set to take place Jan. 5, 2024, with the hearing on a permanent order scheduled for March 6, 2024.
