Cher has two sons, and it was Elijah Blue Allman who was reportedly hospitalized this weekend after a drug overdose. It is not known what he took to make himself ill. However, other details emerged. Read on to find out more.
The Incident Happened On Saturday
According to TMZ, the incident happened in California. Admitted to Joshua Tree Hospital. Elijah has, so far, survived his overdose. Hopefully, he gets better.

The outlet cited a source, writing, “Our sources say, just like any mother, Cher’s only concern right now is for her son’s well-being, and she’s doing everything she can to get him the help he needs.”
A Troubled Youngster
This isn’t the first time Elijah’s struggles went public. He’d spoken in the past about going to rehab and dealing with addiction since he was a teenager. As the only child from Cher’s marriage to Allman Brothers Band frontman Gregg Allman, Elijah grew up surrounded by fame but also personal difficulties.
Last year, Cher filed for conservatorship over her son, citing concerns about his ability to care for himself, especially given his history of substance abuse. In 2019, Elijah spoke about his mom, claiming that the issues he had with her stemmed from “having different value systems,” adding, “we just have a different mentality.”
Reactions To The News
When TMZ shared the article on Instagram about the ordeal of Elijah Blue Allman, a lot of people posted up praying hands emojis. Many people understand the terrible effect that addiction can have on individuals and their families.
One follower said, “I hope he is ok. May Peace find his soul.”
Here are more reactions:
- I lost my sweet granddaughter. Fentanyl.
- Hope he makes it through alright.
- She tried to help him many times. He said he could handle it, which is what most junkies think. Sad.
- They can handle it until they can’t. My son is [the] same. Every day is a day I worry. You can’t help a person if they don’t want help.
- …addiction is the most helpless feeling in the world. There is nothing you can do to help them if they don’t want help. All you can do is wait and hope you never get that call. My heart goes out to Cher and her family.
Drug abuse statistics from a few years ago showed some unfortunate trends. In California, there were over 6K overdose deaths. Unfortunately, the occurrence was steadily increasing at about 10 percent each year. While it’s not known what drug caused the overdose for Elijah Blue Allman, Fentanyl is rapidly rising in popularity with addicts.
