R&B singer Chris Brown was arrested in the UK, where he was scheduled to play some concerts ahead of his Breezy Bowl XX Tour. His first hearing took place on Thursday. Read on to find out what happened.
The Court Denies Bail
Chris was denied bail and ordered to “remain in custody” after his appearance at Manchester Magistrates’ Court on Friday, May 16, 2025. The magistrate, according to The Sun US, ordered that he appear at “Southwark Crown Court” on Friday, 13 June. The charges are serious, explaining the change of venue for the next court appearance.
The singer, who had already had run-ins with the law in the USA, was arrested on Thursday, May 15, when he arrived in the United Kingdom. The charges related to an alleged assault at London’s Tape nightclub in February 2023. Music producer Abe Diaw claims Brown attacked him with a bottle, causing grievous bodily harm.
History Of Violent Behavior

Chris Brown’s name was tied to violent behavior in 2009 following an assault on his then-girlfriend, Rihanna. More recently, in 2020, he faced a lawsuit with allegations of drugging and raping a woman. Additionally, in 2021, further accusations emerged, claiming Brown had hit a woman.
In 2017, his ex, Karrueche Tran, filed for a restraining order following their split. Karrueche and Brown had an on-again, off-again relationship that went back seven years. However, she called it quits after he fathered a child with another woman. Her restraining order cited domestic violence.
Going back to 2013, reports surfaced about several unsuccessful attempts by the singer to complete rehabilitation programs due to rule violations. One such incident involved his reported removal from a facility after he supposedly threw a rock at his mother’s car window during a family therapy session.
Subsequently, in March 2014, he was asked to leave another rehab center. Although the direct cause wasn’t stated, the expulsion occurred after reports of an alleged inappropriate relationship with a female staff member. In response to this incident, Brown denied any wrongdoing.

The tour in the Netherlands was set to open on June 8 in Amsterdam. However, it looks like the entertainer will still be behind bars awaiting his next court appearance. Obviously, he has lawyers, and it seems as if an appeal will be lodged. At this time, there is no official news of a cancellation, leaving fans wondering if they will get to see his performance.
There is a possibility that Chris Brown might end up in prison. However, he might get a suspended sentence. Still, if a guilty verdict arrives, that might impact Chris being able to return to the UK for his British part of the tour.
