Chris Rock Responds To Will Smith’s Apology Video, It’s “Unacceptable”

Chris Rock Responds To Will Smith's Apology Video, It's "Unacceptable"It’s been complete four months since the Oscars scandal between Chris Rock and Will Smith, and if you’ve been paying attention, you’ll recall that I predicted that this issue isn’t ending anytime soon. No matter how long ago it’s been, somebody somewhere would definitely talk about it, either as a reference, example or as a lesson.

This story is getting hot and hotter by the second and, for those who don’t know what I’m talking about (which I highly doubt), let me summarize it for you.

It all went down at the 2022 Oscars Academy Award, Sunday, March 27, 2022. Rock came out to give a speech and then hand Smith his award for Best Actor in his role in King Richard, he made a joke saying “Jada, I love you. G.I. Jane 2, can’t wait to see it, all right?” Referring to the shaved head of Smith’s wife. Well, the thing is that Smith’s wife has alopecia, a medical condition that causes hair loss so, while everyone found the joke funny, including Smith, his wife did not.

Seeing the look on his wife’s face, Smith rose up, walked straight up to Rock, and slapped Rock while screaming “Keep my wife’s name out of your f–king mouth.” After that, Smith went back to his seat.

Chris Rock’s – Response To Smith’s Apology

After the Oscars, Rock didn’t comment on Smith’s attack on him but when he finally did, he said he was “still processing” what happened. Once in a while, Rock will make reference to the slap in his comedy shows, even when Dave Chappelle was attacked by someone in the audience during his “Netflix Is a Joke Presents: Dave Chappelle and Friends” performance at the Hollywood Bowl, back in May, Rock said for a while he thought Dave’s attacker was Will Smith.

On Friday, Smith posted an apology video directed at Rock, on his Facebook page, and YouTube accounts, after the apology, people were waiting to hear from Rock because ever since the Oscars slap, Rock is being seen and identified as the victim of an onstage attack.

Rock went on to a show and specifically explained that he is not a victim and that people should stop seeing him as one, Rock said, “Everybody is trying to be a f-ing victim. If everybody claims to be a victim, then nobody will hear the real victims,” Rock said during his set. “Even me getting smacked by Suge Smith … I went to work the next day, I got kids.”

Rock went on to say that Smith’s apology is “unacceptable” and that he’s not ready to talk about anything concerning Smith.

Chris Rock — The Content Of Will Smith’s Apology Video

The thing is, a day after the Oscars slap, Smith made a public apology to Chris explaining that he acted out of love. On Friday, Smith made a video that directly apologized to Rock about the incident.

According to Smith, he did reach out to Rock but he got a message telling him that Rock is not yet ready to talk hence the apology video which the caption reads; “its been a minute”, so… Smith said in the video, “So, I will say to you, Chris, I apologize to you, my behavior was unacceptable, and I’m here whenever you’re ready to talk.”

Answering the question of if it was his wife that told him to slap Rock, Smith said that, the general speculation that it was due to his wife’s reaction to Rock’s joke that made him slap Rock, that Jada didn’t instruct him to do so. Smith said, “I made a choice on my own from my own experiences and my history with Chris. Jada had nothing to do with it. I’m sorry, babe.”

Next, Smith apologized to his family, the Academy Award, and Questlove for stealing their moment. He recognized that it was Questlove’s vote that made him win the Best Actor award that night. Rounding up the clip, Smith said he is sorry for his actions, “I am deeply remorseful, and I’m trying to be remorseful without being ashamed of myself. I’m human, and I made a mistake, and I’m trying not to think of myself as a piece of s—.” He went on to apologize for not meeting up with the image and standard people placed on him, he promised to do better.

    Not to mention this:

“…and slapped Rock while screaming “Keep my wife’s name out of your f–king mouth.” After that, Smith went back to his seat.”

Could this publication, at the very least, given this writing assignment to somebody who has actually seen the footage? You think Will Smith was screaming this WHILE slapping Chris Rock? Good lord.

I spoke with Will Smith around 2006 on the phone and he was smug. He said he was sorta important. I said everyone is important at which point he agreed and said your right. Everyone is important and I’m a good guy. I didn’t need him to tell me I was a good guy, I just needed him to see how ridiculous he was acting. I shined a brief light on it and he did acknowledge in his own way that he was being a smucke. I don’t believe he’s a bad guy, just someone whose fame went to his head.
