Chris Rock – Recalls Will Smith Slap Pain!

When Will Smith rose from his Oscars chair, viewers at first thought Will and Chris Rock had pre-planned a joke. But Rock’s stunned reaction to Smith’s slap soon made it clear that the hit felt both real and unexpected. And now Chris has spoken out about his reaction and the aftermath, reported Fox News.

Looking back during his Only Headliners Allowed comedy tour with Kevin Hart, Rock shared how he felt after Will slapped him. And he admitted to the pain. “Anyone who says words hurt has never been punched in the face,” Rock told the audience. But he also denied that he felt like a victim after getting hit.

“I’m not a victim. Yeah, that s— hurt, motherf—er. But, I shook that s— off and went to work the next day,” summed up Chris of his reaction. And he also made light of it. “I don’t go to the hospital for a paper cut,” joked Rock during his stand-up comedy routine. And Kevin Hart came through with his own application of wit to the slap, gifting Chris with a goat named Will Smith.

Will Smith – Paid Price For Slapping Chris Rock

However, Chris’ remarks inevitably recalled for many what happened on that now infamous Oscars evening. At the time, Rock took to the stage to present an award during the live telecast of the 94th Academy Awards. But the comedian made a joke during his appearance about Will’s wife,  Jada Pinkett Smith. And Chris’ comments about Jada’s bald head in referring to G.I. Jane infuriated Smith.

Because Pinkett Smith had talked about her battle with alopecia, an autoimmune disorder that causes hair loss,” Will clearly thought that the joke hurt his wife. And so he went up to the stage and slapped Rock. Later that same evening, Smith won the best actor award and issued an apology.

However, as the days passed, Will seemed to recognize that his actions remained troublesome. As a result, he resigned from the Academy. “My actions at the 94th Academy Awards presentation were shocking, painful and inexcusable. The list of those I have hurt is long and includes Chris, his family, many of my dear friends and loved ones, all those in attendance and global audiences at home. I betrayed the trust of the academy,” added Smith. He also got banned for 10 years from attending Oscars-related shows and events.

Meanwhile, Chris has not missed a beat, touring with Kevin Hart as planned. And recently, the comedy duo even wowed the crowd by having Dave Chappelle open for them. The audience cheered as Chappelle strutted out to the song, “Karma Police.”
