Abby Lee Miller recently came forward to explain why fans didn’t see her on the reunion show that ‘Dance Moms’ recently did. And no, it’s not her choice not to come on. She simply wasn’t invited.
According to her, some of the kids she choreographed wouldn’t have been able “to face her.”
Abby Lee Miller – Says Her Former Students Don’t Want To Reunite With Her For This Reason
Once upon a time, no one would have thought there could have been a ‘Dance Moms’ reunion without Abby Lee Miller, but you know, it’s happened so now we know it can happen.
While Abby had a falling out with some of her students, and therefore their moms, on the original show, she still believes those kids wouldn’t be who they are without her mentorship and teachings.
Amongst her former students that returned for the reunion show ‘Dance Moms: The Reunion’ are Jojo Siwa, Chloé Lukasiak, and Kalani Hilliker. The trio was once a part of Abby Lee Dance Company students, which was led by the former dance coach.
During her appearance on the May 8 episode of ‘Just B with Bethenny Frankel’ podcast, she opened up about her time on the show and the students who she’s still good with.
“I think the kids can’t face me,” she opined on why she wasn’t invited to be part of the reunion show. “because they know they would never be where they are today if it wasn’t for the show.”
While there are those who wouldn’t bear to face her, there are still those who are appreciative of what she’s done for them and have kept in contact over the years.
“There’s two little girls named Brooke and Paige Hyland who I was very close to, much closer emotionally and family wise than any of the other kids,” Abby recalled. “Their mother was in my original competition team when I was 14 years old.”
“She stayed at my studio,” she continued, “then she left, got married, had kids, brought them to my studio at 2 years old.”
Abby Lee Miller – Rejects Claims Her Company Was “Toxic” To the Children
‘Dance Moms’ ran from 2011 to 2019 and focused on the Abby Lee Dance Company (Aldc). It followed young dancers as they learned their dance routines and competed nationwide. However, some of these kids started calling the atmosphere created by her company “toxic.”
Responding to these claims, Abby noted, “If this was so toxic for all these kids, why did they come back? The kids came back. There were other studios in town, mine was the best.”
Despite the drama that later started developing, Abby agreed “there were good times, and it was fun. And they loved what they were doing.”
Jojo Siwa has also opened up about the coach’s absence on the reunion, saying that she believes the decision was made because some of her castmates suffered trauma from the drama.
