Danny Masterson Has Plans To Battle His 30 Year Sentence

What a shocking day it is to learn that Danny Masterson – the Danny Masterson that Mila Kunis and Ashton Kutcher swore up and down on behalf of – has been found guilty of raping two women and has been sentenced to thirty years in jail.

However, Danny Masterson will reportedly not be taking this sentence at face value. He means to contest the judge’s ruling, since, according to one of his lawyers, there were substantial errors in this case. Who’s ready for round one and three quarters?

There are some who would be happy to see Masterson locked away, no doubt – Leah Remini for one – but he’s got some good friends willing to vouch for his “role model” behavior.

Danny Masterson Has Plans To Battle His 30 Year Sentence

Following Masterson’s Sept. 7 sentence, one of his lawyers confirmed that the legal battle is not over.

The star, who rose to fame playing Steven Hyde on “That ’70s Show,” received the hefty sentence of 30 years behind bars for raping two women in 2001 and 2003 in his Hollywood Hills home.

The 47-year-old was convicted in June in a second trial, with the jury seemingly believing that it’s possible he might have raped a third woman.

In a statement shared with E! News by one of Masterson’s lawyer, Shawn Holley, “a team of the top appellate lawyers in the country has been reviewing the transcripts of the trial” and “have identified a number of significant evidentiary and constitutional issues which they will address in briefs to both state and federal appellate courts.”

The attorney continued, “The errors which occurred in this case are substantial and unfortunately, led to verdicts which are not supported by the evidence. And though we have great respect for the jury in this case and for our system of justice overall, sometimes they get it wrong. And that’s what happened here.”

Masterson, Holley said, “did not commit the crimes for which he has been convicted and we—and the appellate lawyers—the best and the brightest in the country—are confident that these convictions will be overturned.”

On the other hand, the lawyer representing the two accusers say they should be hailed for coming forward and holding a sexual predator accountable for his crimes.
