Did you know that getting into a Taylor Swift concert is way harder than getting game tickets for a sporting event? David Harbour had to make a lot of calls to be able to get tickets to take his stepdaughter to a Taylor Swift concert.
Usually, his David Harbour charm would have been enough to secure tickets, but not in Taylor Swift’s case.
However, he did get a handwritten letter and a wave from the superstar, so his charm did score him some points.
Here’s The Full Story As Told By David Harbour.
David Harbour Called In “A Lot of Favors” In Order To Take His Stepdaughter To See A Taylor Swift Concert
If you’re at a Taylor Swift concert and you manage to get a handwritten note from the “Cruel Summer” hitmaker, you are indeed among the lucky lucky ones.
Speaking with reporter Josh Horowitz on his “Happy Sad Confused” podcast, the “Stranger Things” star opened up about the special bonding moment he shared with one of his stepdaughters in a Taylor Swift concert earlier this summer.
While recalling the “brownie points” he scored with his stepdaughters when he took them to a a screening of “Guardians of the Galaxy vol. 3” in May, he confessed it was “not as many brownie points as I got taking the stepdaughter to Taylor Swift, though.”
Harbour, 48, became stepfather to Ethel, 11, and Marnie, 10, when he married their mother Lily Allen.
To get the 33-year-old singer-songwriter’s Minneapolis concert tickets, Harbour recalled “calling in a lot of favors,” which was not the norm for him. “You know, normally the great thing about being a beloved character on Stranger
Things is I can call up Madison Square Garden and get courtside [tickets] to the Knicks,” he said, hinting at how hard it was for anyone to get tickets to a Taylor Swift concert.
It was worth it anyway, because, according to Harbour, “It was pretty extraordinary.” It helped that the one he attended was in a “real music town” like Minneapolis, where “People are really there to see the concert rather than, like, Instagram the concert. So, it was a perfect place to see it.”
David Harbour Recalls Moment Taylor Swift Left His Daughter “Speechless” With Kind Gesture
Before the show, he told his stepdaughter that there was a possibility they could meet and greet Taylor Swift because he’d asked someone for the favor. “I said something like, you know, ‘If there’s an opportunity to say hello…’
But I’m also very conscious, ‘cause a lot of times people want to meet me, and it can be very difficult.”
Sadly, Swift was revealed to be leaving the concert on a plane, so there was no chance to see her, but the singer, who is known for being super-attentive to her fans, did not leave them completely hanging.
“We sat there for about 30 minutes of the opener, and then a woman came out with a letter, and it was, you know, addressed to me and my stepdaughter, and it was a handwritten letter on a particular stationary.”
The note was written by Swift herself, and the effect it caused was one Harbour hopes to cherish forever: “I’ve never seen my stepdaughter speechless.”
In the note, Swift promised to wave at them at some point from the stage, and she did come true with her word, as she did wave at their “little booth.”
Apart from impressing his stepdaughter, Harbour was impressed himself with the show Swift put on, saying, “Yeah, seeing her perform for three-and-a-half hours… It’s like 45 songs.
She barely leaves the stage. I don’t know when she pees. It’s ridiculous. She’s a force of nature.”
