Demi Moore has provided an update on her ex-husband Bruce Willis’ lengthy battle with dementia.
In an interview with The Drew Barrymore Show, the 61-year-old actress spoke about their work on Charlie’s Angels: Full Throttle (2003), in which Willis played a minor role. When Barrymore brought up Willis’ cameo in the film, Moore responded, “I totally forgot about that.”
“Given the givens, he is in a stable place,” Moore responded reassuringly but poignantly when Barrymore asked about Willis’s present state of health. Moore, the mother of Willis’s three daughters, Russell, 36, Scout, 33, and Tallulah, 30, explained the family’s approach to the trying circumstances. “What I say to my kids is you meet them where they’re at. You don’t hold on to who they were or what you want them to be, but who they are in this moment. And from that, there is such beauty and joy and loving and sweetness.”
Bruce Willis’ – Health Condition
The Die Hard actor was diagnosed with aphasia in April 2022, a disorder affecting speech and communication. Nearly a year later, Willis’s condition worsened, and his family announced he had been diagnosed with front-temporal dementia (FTD), a progressive form of dementia affecting behavior, personality, and language.
Willis’s wife, Emma Heming Willis, along with his daughters from his current marriage—Mabel, 12, and Evelyn, 9—have also been by his side throughout the ordeal.
Despite the challenges, Moore maintains a close connection with her ex-husband. She revealed on the show, “When I’m in LA, I go over [to Willis’ house] every week, and I really treasure the time that we all share.”
Moore’s Opens Up About Family Life
Moore’s openness about her family life extends beyond just her relationship with Willis. Recently, she spoke with The Guardian, admitting that dating has taken a back seat for her over the last few years. “Dating is not really where my focus is. Particularly in the last four, five years, my focus has been to lean into my work. I’m more in a place that’s much more about choice as opposed to feeling there is any kind of lack.”
This year, Moore has been busy with the release of her latest film The Substance, in which she stars as an aging fitness guru obsessed with maintaining youth. The film, which premiered recently in New Zealand, also features Once Upon a Time… in Hollywood actress Margaret Qualley.
While reflecting on her memories of Willis, Moore also took a moment earlier this year to honor him on his 69th birthday by sharing a heartfelt social media post.
Accompanying the post were several pictures, including a sweet shot of Willis playing with his granddaughter and a nostalgic family photo of him with their daughters. Moore captioned it with a simple but touching message: “Happy birthday, BW! We love you and are so grateful for you.”
