Good. Now, what if I tell you that something like this actually happened and that it, in fact, happened to a celebrity? Hahaha, I know, right? Okay, stay with me while I give you the details of what happened that night.
Diplo — Does This Have To Do With The Color Of Your Hair?
So, here’s what happened, on May 30, Diplo, 43, uploaded on his social media a video of how he attended a Cannes Film Festival party where he was invited to be the Deejay, but the security refused to let him in. They clearly didn’t know who he was, accolades and all, nothing.
Diplo – He Is Unrecognizable
Diplo introduced himself as the Deejay of the party but it didn’t ring a bell. The security didn’t budge. Diplo in the clip he posted, said “I was booked to DJ a yacht party in Cannes but security wouldn’t let me in,” he further revealed that he almost left to go get himself food, “The yacht was empty so I was about to take the L and go get food….”
Now, the question is, how unrecognizable was Diplo? I mean, a lady from inside was spotted in the video trying to explain the situation to the security, that Diplo was actually the Deejay hired to perform at the party, but the security still wasn’t convinced.
Diplo revealed that he got lucky when the owner appeared and he was allowed in “Luckily the owner was walking by and let me in…,”
Anyways, Diplo took the whole escapade in good faith as he said he learned something from it, and that is, “Next time I’m adding myself to guest list.” Did I mention that, that was his caption on the clip he posted?
Diplo’s – Latest Achievements
I bet you’re as surprised as I was that Diplo was not recognized as the Deejay of the event despite his achievements recently.
I mean, just two months ago, the musician was nominated for a Grammy for best dance/electronic music album. And in recent years, the music producer has won three Grammy Awards, snagging best dance recording for “Where Are Ü Now” and Best Dance/Electronic Album for Skrillex And Diplo Present Jack Ü in 2016, as well as best dance recording for “Electricity” in 2019.
The Eric Andre Show which will be returning to Adult Swim for its sixth season in 2023, made an announcement on May 18 that its Guests will include the likes of Diplo, Tinashe, Rico Nasty, Lil Nas X, Natasha Lyonne, Jaleel White, Blac Chyna, Jon Hamm, Raven-Symoné, Daymond John, Meagan Good, Waka Flocka Flame, Cypress Hill, Lil Yachty and “a host of other celebrities so big we legally can’t use them in promotions,” the press release jokes.
Eric André said in the press release, “Expect more deranged pranks, fire, and chaos in Season 666 with a jam-packed schedule of celebrities I can’t believe agreed to this.” Kitao Sakurai and Jeff Tremaine directed the new season.
