The Las Vegas Metropolitan Police Department confirmed that the incident occurred on December 26 at approximately 11:20 PM local time.

Officers reportedly found an inmate “lying motionless inside a cell.” Despite immediate medical attention, the inmate was pronounced dead at the scene, with reports indicating “apparent blunt force injuries.”

Authorities believe a physical altercation took place between the deceased and his cellmate, later identified as 41-year-old Chad Ollinger. Ollinger has been taken into custody and “rebooked for Open Murder.”

According to jail and court records cited by the Las Vegas Review Journal, Ollinger had been in custody since an October 27 arrest for being a fugitive from another state. He also faces a contempt of court charge.
