Does Johnny Depp Still Need Hollywood?

Johnny Depp’s fall from grace was far from being graceful. In a twinkle of an eye, he lost his role as Grindelwald in the ‘Harry Potter’ spinoff ‘Fantastic Beasts’ and his highly acclaimed role in ‘Pirates of the Caribbean.’

However, this was not all he lost. He lost his reputation, his contacts and became a sort of pariah in Hollywood.

He made his comeback to the film industry in 2023 with the French-language movie, ‘Jeanne Du Barry,’ but it was not a very strong comeback. This may have possibly inspired him to shift focus from working in front of the lens to behind it, leading him to direct ‘Modi: Three Days On the Wings of Madness.’

So far, he’s received a lot of praise for his contributions to the project, but after this, what’s next for him?

Should he reconcile with the studios and execs who dumped him or should he continue to pave his own way? One thing’s for sure, he’s no Kevin Spacey.

Johnny Depp Hints He Doesn’t Plan On Quiting Hollywood

2022 was one of Johnny Depp’s most popular years, but not in any way or form he might have fancied. It was the year he and ex Amber Heard headed to the courtroom to battle out their differences for, hopefully, the last time.

A lot of dark and creepy things were unearthed during that time, and while Depp may walk out the winner – he not only won the defamation case but he was able to get more support than Heard and her people could drum up – it was still a pretty harrowing experience.’

Recalling that period of his life, he likened it to a “mad” soap opera, adding, “I learned, man. Everything that we experience, whether you’re given a snow cone or walking your dog, you learn something somewhere along the way. So I don’t have any ill feelings toward anyone. I don’t have this great reserve of hatred, because hatred requires caring. Why carry that baggage?”

Even though Depp once claimed that he didn’t need Hollywood anymore, he’s so far come around as to admit he’s ready to dabble with the entertainment industry once more. He said: “I had a few bouts with Hollywood over their particular easy way and the fluid three-act structure and all the stuff that is predictable. And I am sorry, but I had to get in there and whip it around a little bit…”
