Dolly Parton Wows Amid Thanksgiving Game

From a bedazzled cheerleader uniform to a rock star voice, Dolly Parton became the highlight of a Thanksgiving NFL game this year. And after releasing her new album Rock Star on November 17, the country music queen sizzled at the halftime show, reported People.

Parton lit up the stage at the AT&T Stadium in Arlington, Texas. And with bedazzled mesh shining, Parton donned a white vest with blue stars, a blue crop top, and white shorts. However, Dolly couldn’t resist adding more sparkle, with a crystal star over her belly button and crystals on her tights.

Dolly Parton Sings Classics At Halftime

To the delight of the crowd, Dolly began the halftime show with her classic song Jolene. And she followed up with 9 to 5. However, Parton achieved a highlight with her performance of Queen’s We Are the Champions.

And Dolly shared that she viewed her partnership with The Salvation Army as an honor. Discussing her decision to become the Thanksgiving Day game halftime performer, Parton praised the organization.

“Those Red Kettles have long been a symbol of hope for our friends and neighbors who are facing hard times,” she said. And Dolly shared her goal of encouraging “everyone who can to donate and support their neighbors in need. Every small act of generosity helps,” she added. “And together, we can all love our neighbors this holiday season and beyond.”

Dolly Parton Teams Up With Miley Cyrus

The country music singer and songwriter’s newest album Rock Star offers a 30-track set. And it includes covers, original songs, and collaborations. For instance, artists who collaborated included Paul McCartney, Ringo Starr, Elton John, Pink, Brandi Carlile, Melissa Etheridge and Sting.

And Dolly unveiled her own take on her goddaughter Miley Cyrus’ classic Wrecking Ball. The duet with the 30-year-old pop star ranked as a highlight for Parton. And she recalled, “I remember the first time I heard ‘Wrecking Ball,’ it hit me the same way as it did the first time I heard ‘I Will Always Love You’ by Whitney Houston.”

And Dolly revealed that she nearly got into a car accident by listening to Wrecking Ball as she drove. “I was driving, heard that one, and I almost wrecked. And when I heard ‘Wrecking Ball,’ I almost wrecked again. I thought when it started into that chorus, ‘It hit me like a wrecking ball,’ I thought, ‘Well, how great can a song be’?”

And Cyrus revealed her appreciation. “I’ve grown up covering my Aunt Dolly’s music & it’s an honor to hear her singing one of my songs. I love you Aunt Dolly!” gushed Miley. And she added, “I’m so happy to add another collaboration under our bedazzled (studded leather) belt! We’re ROCKSTARS now! You can hear so much sweetness and love on this record. Excited to share it with everyone. Forever your Doll Baby, Miley.”
