Dolly Parton Reveals OPEN Marriage, Airs Romantic DIRTY Laundry!

Dolly Parton and Will Smith share something in common. Both the country music legend and the controversial actor have faced rumors about open marriages for years.

How do you define an open marriage? For country music icon Dolly Parton, it involves figuring out a relationship of 57 years that works for both her and her husband Carl Thomas Dean. And in a tell-all documentary, Dolly reveals their romantic history via the Daily Mail.

However, Parton doesn’t romanticize their relationship. And in true Dolly style, she airs all their dirty laundry by recalling how she actually met Carl at a laundromat in Nashville in 1964. Soon after, Parton realized that she could always depend on Dean.

And just two years after they met, Dolly and Carl tied the knot in 1966. Now 81, he has remained loyal to the country music singer, 77, ever since, even when she works longer than called for her in her famous song “9 To 5.” And in her new documentary, “Dolly Parton: In Her Own Words” she explained their open relationship.

Dolly Parton Airs Dirty Laundry

But it took a load of dirty laundry for the fateful meeting. And Parton recalled, “When I first moved to Nashville in 1964 I was doing dirty laundry because I was in such a hurry to move to Nashville from my home in East Tennessee which was 200 miles away. I’d never been in a laundromat before. I walked outside,” she remembered.

And Dolly noticed a “good looking man that drove by the wishy-washy laundromat. And he pulled over to the side. So we started talking.” That laundry talk turned into a wedding “two years later.” 

However, despite her marriage, the country music singer has described men as her “weakness.” And Dolly confessed, “Men are my weakness. Short, fat, bald or skinny — I’ve had crushes on some very unusual men. But Carl knows I’ll always come home,” she added about her open marriage.

“And I’m not having sex with these people,” clarified Parton. “I’m just flirting and having fun.” As a result, Dolly claims that her husband never feels jealous. And their open marriage means that she returns the favor.

Dolly Parton Loves Her Hubby ‘Madly’

“He’s not jealous,” stated Parton. “And I’m not jealous of him. He knows I flirt. He flirts too. Yes, it’s an open relationship,” she confessed. However, the country music singer then clarified how she defines an open marriage.

“But not sexually,” added Dolly. “And I would kill him if I thought he was doing that. He would shoot me too. At the end of the day we love each other madly.” And Parton takes pride in staying with Carl for “59 [years]. We dated two years, and then we celebrated our 57th anniversary on May the 30th.”
