Dolly Parton – Set To Take Fans On Thrilling Trip Down Her Family Tree In A Four-part Docuseries
Dolly Parton has just announced a brand new album and a four-part docuseries that will explore her heritage and fans are flipping.
The docuseries, titled ‘Dolly Parton & Family: Smoky Mountain DNA – Family, Faith & Fables,’ will trace back Dolly’s heritage from the United Kingdom in the 1600s to the the Great Smoky Mountains of East Tennessee, where they live today.
The series is being produced by Parton’s cousin and touring band member Richie Owens and will arrive this November 15.
“I cannot believe that it has been 60 years this month since I graduated from Sevier County High School and moved to Nashville to pursue my dreams,” Dolly wrote in a statement on her official website.
“My Uncle Bill Owens was by my side for many years helping me develop my music. I owe so much to him and all the family members past and present who have inspired me along this journey. I am honored to spotlight our families’ musical legacy that is my Smoky Mountain DNA.”
The album’s tracklist will be released on June 21, alongside pre-order links for the vinyl and CD.
Dolly has previously hinted at having a welsh ancestry. Last month she told Wales Online that she loves traveling to the place because of how it makes her feel as if she’s home. “I’ve been there about three times and it always feels good because it feels like family,” she said.
The twist to this upcoming Dolly album is that it will feature songs and performances by Dolly’s immediate & extended family, spanning generations.
There will also be voice recordings of members who have passed on, so you can guess how personal and intimate Dolly wants to make it.
