Don Lemon’s Days Are Numbered At CNN

CNN anchor Don Lemon is still dealing with the aftermath of his latest controversial comments, and it sounds like his days may be numbered at the news network.  While he is currently back on a trial basis and has been sternly warned by the higher-ups, the odds of him not upsetting any one else while he’s on the air are slim to none.

Nikki Haley made waves last week when she called for a mental competency test for any Presidential candidates over the age of 75 years old.  Obviously, she was making a pretty direct jab at current president Joe Biden.  But, this also would apply to former President Donald Trump, as well as some other notable presidents over recent years.

Don Lemon In Hot Water Over Nikki Haley Comments

CNN anchor Don Lemon apparently took offense, and stated on air, “Nikki Haley isn’t in her prime. Sorry. A woman is considered to be in her prime in her 20s and 30s, and maybe 40s.”  And, then all hell broke loose.

Not only did Lemon’s co-stars strongly disagree with his statement about “older women” but viewers at home were in a frenzy on social media, and general consensus across the boards is Lemon’s comments were very offensive, and the words “sexist” and “ageist” have been thrown around a lot.

After the fiery backlash, CNN pulled Don Lemon from the air for a few days.  According to TMZ, Lemon is back on CNN however he was given a stern warning from the network.  If there is one more incident, he is done, there’s no reconsidering.

CNN Anchor Don Lemon Issues Apology

Lemon appears to be apologetic.  But, it’s unclear if his apologies are genuine or just a requirement from the network to keep his current gig at CNN.

Don took to Twitter to make a public apology and wrote, “The reference I made to a woman’s “prime” this morning was inartful and irrelevant, as colleagues and loved ones have pointed out, and I regret it. A woman’s age doesn’t define her either personally or professionally. I have countless women in my life who prove that every day.”

It will certainly be interesting to see how long Don Lemon can keep himself out of trouble on CNN.  Do you think he will be fired sooner rather than later, or will he be on his best behavior?  Keep checking Celebrating The Soaps for more Don Lemon and CNN news.
