Dr. Dre was in a state of half alive, half dead, in fact, call it a one and half in the death part because the doctors didn’t think he would make it. It was early last year, when coronavirus was at its peak, people who caught the illness were being isolated, and the issue of social distancing was a big deal that Dr. Dre was diagnosed with brain aneurysm. Recently, Dr. Dre opened up on what he went through during that critical period of his life.
Dr. Dre — Doctors Allowed Family Members To Say Goodbye
Speaking with the host of “Workout the Doubt” podcast Dolvett Quince, Dre explained what he went through while at the hospital and from what I gathered, what Dr. Dre went through is what can be described as a near death experience. Dre was hospitalized at Cedars-Sinai Medical Center in Los Angeles in January 2021.
While at the hospital, Dre said he wasn’t allowed to have visitors that aren’t his direct family members, and this was because he was hospitalized during the covid_19 pandemic. Even when his family were permitted to see him, it was for them to say their goodbye because the nature of Dre’s brain issue was critical that doctors thought he wouldn’t make it alive.
“But they allowed my family to come in, I found out later, they called them up, so they could say their last goodbyes because [doctors] thought I was out of here. I didn’t know it was that serious, you know? I am seeing my mom, my sister, and everybody come into the room,” Dre continued. “Nobody told me. I had no idea. That was crazy.”
Dr. Dre — Doctors Conduct Tests On Dre Every Hour
Dre said he spent two weeks in the ICU, while there, every hour, the doctor comes in to wake him up and carry out some tests, he described those tests as sobriety tests and said they had to do that because of what was going on in his brain. Dre said that after the wake up and tests were conducted, he tries to sleep because he knows they would be back the next hour to conduct the tests again.
In all that, Dre said he never for once thought that he wouldn’t make it, instead, he thought about how hungry he was and how he hadn’t eaten anything for the whole of the two weeks. “I felt like, ‘OK, I am just going through a procedure. I am ready to go home. I am hungry.’ I didn’t eat for two weeks. That was a really crazy experience.” After Dre’s hospitalization, Dre took to his Instagram to tell his fans that he’s doing really well and he’s been properly taken care of.
