Beyoncé is full of surprises. Shortly after the star announced that she’s ready to drop “Renaissance Act II” – the follow-up to her seventh studio album “Renaissance” – she dropped two country-leaning singles, and it wasn’t even Friday.
This, however, was not without its own controversies. First a country radio station refused to play the song, sparking fans to go on a literal rampage, albeit online.
Now we’re hearing from the likes of John Schneider how Beyoncé is one of those “lefty” dogs that like to claim things for themselves, Okay.
John Schneider Groups Beyoncé In With People “Trying To Claim” Country Music
The fight for country has begun, so grab your cowboy hats and whiskeys and get ready for the hoedown.
Whilst “Texas Hold ‘Em” and “16 Carriages” have been praised for showing the influence blacks have had on the genre over the years, others think the brand new Beyoncé singles make the Queen look like she’s a peeing dog.
During his appearance on the right-wing One American News, Schneider took time off from one of his political rants to take a few shots at the “Lemonade” hitmaker. Why? Because she went country for her upcoming album.
“They’ve got to make their mark, just like a dog in a dog walk park,” Schneider said after the OAN host asked for his opinion on the way lefties are infiltrating country music. “You know, every dog has to mark every tree, right? So that’s what’s going on here.”
And in case you think he’s an amateur speaking on topics he doesn’t understand, he goes on to insist that he knows “a little something about country music,” citing his albums and the success he achieved within the genre in the ’80s.
However, in case Schneider doesn’t know, Beyoncé is from Texas, so she’s got as much a right to country music as anyone else.
The upcoming LP is possibly one of three albums she proposed would be under the “Renaissance” banner.
She wrote at the time: “This three-act project was recorded over three years during the pandemic. A time to be still, but also a time I found to be the most creative. Creating this album allowed me a place to dream and to find escape during a scary time for the world.”
