Ed Sheeran is seriously considering switching genres – okay, we don’t know how serious he is yet, but it is something that has definitely bumped into his talented ginger head. Wouldn’t it be funny if he switched from pop to country?
I mean, one of his best friends in the entertainment industry – yes, I am talking about the Taylor Swift – switched from country to pop. That way, their friendship will truly be balanced (haha, joking!)
Ed Sheeran Reveals He Has Talked About Writing Country Songs
Will country music be the next place the wind of creativity blows Ed Sheeran? Could be. Not only will he be taking the stage at this year’s ACM Awards to perform his new song, “Life Goes On,” but his love for country music may actually be strong enough to drag him into the genre widely associated with boots and cowboy hats.
“I talk about this to my wife all the time. I would love to transition into country,” the “Eyes Closed” singer-songwriter, 32, told Billboard. “I love the culture of it, I just love the songwriting. It’s just like, brilliant songs.”
He also revealed that he’s set to take the stage at Thursday’s ACM awards to perform a track off his latest album “-” (pronounced Subtract). “It’s just a song about dealing with loss, basically,” he said of the track, “Life Goes On.”
Sheeran Then Revealed That Country Is Basically Played All Day Long At Home, And That He And Wife Cherry Seaborn Are Massive Fans.
“I’ve lived in Nashville all of 2013 and all of 2018,” he said. “It really left a lasting mark on me. I love country music and I feel accepted here. It’s great.”
Sheeran also recalled the first time he met Dolly Parton and how Garth Brook’s music made it into his childhood experiences. Parton and Brook are this year’s ACM hosts.
Sheeran will be taking the stage in Frisco, Texas alongside stars like Keith Urban, Jason Aldean, Miranda Lambert and Lainey Wilson.
