Ellen DeGeneres has no interest in living in an America that would vote Donald Trump back into power.
According to several reports, the talkshow host has opted to say her final goodbye to Hollywood to enjoy all that the other side of the ocean has to offer. So far, controversial TV personality Piers Morgan has welcomed her with a not-so-friendly greeting.
Ellen DeGeneres – Leaves Hollywood Behind After Saying She Was Kicked Out of Show Business
Ellen DeGeneres and her partner Portia De Rossi have relocated to the quaint rural region in the south of the UK called Cotswolds.
While she hasn’t officially revealed the reason for the move, many believe it is inspired by President Donald Trump’s win. Like many others in the entertainment industry, Ellen DeGeneres was very critical of Trump’s regime.
Now that he’s been re-elected again to spearhead America for the next four years, DeGeneres has listed her $27 million Montecito mansion for sale. This obviously means that she’s not planning on coming back to America, or at least to that Hollywood neighborhood again.
Prior to this new development, DeGeneres spoke of retiring following the cancellation of her popular talkshow over allegations of workplace abuse. She tried to downplay her cancellation by saying she was “kicked out of show business” for being “mean, old and gay.”
“I decided to take up gardening. I got chickens. Let me see what else I can tell you about that’s been going on… Oh yeah, I got kicked out of show business… Yeah, the ‘Be kind’ girl wasn’t kind. That was the headline,” she said in introduction of her Netflix special, which she announced in May.
It was also supposed to be her last stint in the spotlight, so it makes sense that she’s now looking forward to having a fresh start elsewhere.
What Ellen DeGeneres Has Said About Being Accused of Keeping A Toxic Workplace Environment
At the height of the toxic workplace allegations in 2020, DeGeneres addressed the rumors during her Season 18 opening monologue, saying, “As you may have heard, this summer, there were allegations of a toxic work environment at our show, and then there was an investigation. I learned that things happened here that never should have happened.”
She continued: “There were also articles in the press and on social media that said, I am not who I appear to be on TV because I became known as the Be Kind lady.Being known as the Be Kind lady is a tricky position to be in… the truth is, I am that person that you see on TV. I am also a lot of other things. Sometimes I get sad. I get mad. I get anxious. I get frustrated. I get impatient, and I am working on all of that. I am a work in progress.”
