Elon Musk Didn’t Reinstate Kanye West’s Twitter Account, Twitter Did

Kanye “Ye” West‘s Twitter account which was restricted earlier this month has been reinstated and Twitter users think Elon Musk has something to do with it.

On Friday, Elon Musk finalized his deal of purchasing the Twitter platform with a whooping sum of $44 Billion. That same Friday the platform’s new owner tweeted that users of the social media platform who were restricted for one reason or the other won’t be reinstated, yet.

The reason is that the platform “will be forming a content moderation council with widely diverse viewpoints.” According to Musk, “No major content decisions or account reinstatements will happen before that council convenes.”

After Musk made the tweet, curious Twitter users who were aware that Kanye West’s account was restricted, wanted to know why Musk would say that when Kanye has already been reinstated. One person asked, “So why did you restore already. Kanye West’s account? Twitter should not be a platform to spew racism and antisemitism.”

Musk who had nothing to do with that, immediately cleared his name by saying, “Ye’s account was restored by Twitter before the acquisition. They did not consult with or inform me.”

In a now-deleted post on Twitter, Kanye made antisemitic posts dissing blacks and making hate speech “I’m a bit sleepy tonight but when I wake up I’m going death con 3 [sic] On JEWISH PEOPLE [sic] The funny thing is I actually can’t be Anti Semitic [sic] because black people are actually Jew also [sic] You guys have toyed with me and tried to black ball anyone whoever opposes your agenda.”

After the post went viral, Twitter restricted Kanye’s account. Instagram also restricted Kanye’s account and deleted content from his page for violating the rules and regulations guiding the application.

Following the long list of antisemitic comments Kanye has been dropping since the beginning of the month, companies such as Balenciaga, Vogue, and CAA that are in partnership with him have proceeded to cut ties with the rapper. On Tuesday, Oct. 25, Adidas joined the list of companies that dropped their partnership with Kanye.

Elon Musk — What Kanye Lost Due To His Hateful Rhetoric

Taking to his Instagram which was temporarily suspended, the Donda rapper posted on Oct. 27, that he lost the sum of $2 billion in just one day on account of his antisemitic comments.

Back when Kanye was in partnership with Adidas his Yeezy collections with the company Costs about $1.5 billion, therefore, losing his partnership with the sports clothing company cost him $1.5 billion. According to Forbes, Kanye West’s name is no longer among the list of billionaires.

On Oct. 26, the principal of Donda Academy Jason Angell sent an email to the parents of the students, explaining that the school has been shuttered officially for the rest of the school year. According to TMZ the announcement of the school closure was made “at the discretion of our Founder.”
