Elton John Says He’s “Positive” About Recovery From “Severe Eye Infection”
The “Sacrifice” singer recently shared some details about an eye condition that he is recovering from.
“Over the summer, I’ve been dealing with a severe eye infection that has unfortunately left me with only limited vision in one eye,” John wrote in a statement shared with fans on Instagram on Tuesday. “I am healing, but it’s an extremely slow process and it will take some time before sight returns to the impacted eye.”
He further shared his gratitude, writing, “I am so grateful for the excellent team of doctors and nurses and my family, who have taken such good care of me over the last several weeks.”
Even though he refrained from sharing the specific eye condition he is referring to or what caused it, fans sent prayers his way and encouraged him to hold on to his positive mindset.
This isn’t the only health condition that the 77-year-old has suffered from recently, as he was hospitalized after a fall at his home in Nice, France. Happily, it wasn’t a major issue and he was quickly discharged.
Elton John’s – Life Following Record Breaking Farewell Tour
In 2018, John embarked on his “Farewell Yellow Brick Road” tour, which stretched across 330 concert dates, concluding roughly six years later in 2023. At the time, his representatives shared that it would be his final time touring.
This is to allow him to spend more time with his family, they said. During the tour, some concert dates were shifted when he fell and had to receive hip surgery.
Since his retirement, he has managed to complete his EGOT status by winning an Emmy this January for outstanding variety special for his livestreamed farewell concert at Dodger Stadium.
This made him the 19th person to achieve the feat. Sadly, he was not present at the ceremony because of a knee operation.
