Ex-Disney Chief Bob Chapek Steps Into His Next Major Executive Role

For nearly three decades, Bob Chapek stood tall as a sought after executive leading global companies, but his run at Disney is far from being one for the books. Just a few months after taking over from Bob Iger, he was ousted, only to be replaced by the same Iger.

However, two years on and he’s already found a new executive role. If navigating Disney was tough, leading Masimo at one of their most uncertain times will surely keep him on his toes. Regardless, he’s super excited for his new role.

Bob Chapek Joins Masimo’s Board of Directors Following Dramatic Time

Bob Chapek has been appointed to the board of directors of medical tech firm Masimo. This is coming on the heels of a series of disputes between the company and Apple.

The tech giant has been in a patent dispute with the firm as a result of a blood oxygen tool that’s included on the company’s latest line of smart watches.

As a result of its similarity with a Masimo product, the International Trade Commission proclaimed that Apple infringed on a patent.

Following the ruling, Apple pulled the the current edition of the watches off the market. Per multiple media outlets, Apple has decided to remove the feature from subsequent editions of the watches.

This will be Chapek’s first big role since exiting Disney. His 2022 exit caused a turmoil, which might have been the reason he kept a low profile since.

“I am thrilled to join the Masimo board,” the exec said in a press release. “I look forward to helping advance the company’s growth by leveraging their core technologies in the consumer and consumer health spaces.”

Joe Kiani, Chairman and CEO of Masimo, warmly welcomed him in a message, saying, “We are honored to have Bob join the board. As we execute our hospital to home strategy, we expect to benefit greatly from Bob’s role on our board.”
