Expert Says A Music Career Won’t Save Will Smith’s Film Career

Expert Says A Music Career Won't Save Will Smith's Film CareerFor many years, Will Smith has been one of the most consistent actors in Hollywood, starring in movies ranging from sci-fi to comedy. However, all this was about to change the night he won his first Oscar award for his role in King Richard.

If you can remember, a shiny Oscar wasn’t all that Will Smith strolled out of the awards show with. He also left with a big old controversy that’s been haunting him ever since. You know what I’m talking about, yeah? The infamous Oscar slap.

Will Smith Releases First Album In Twenty Years

If life gives you lemons, make lemonade. Will Smith is taking advantage of his rare dry spell to do something that has always thrilled him; making rap music. On March 28, the actor dropped his first full-length album in 20 years, titled ‘Based on a True Story.’

But that’s not all the musical excitement that Smith has got going on because he has promised us a tour. It will be his first headlining tour in forever, and he promises there’s going to be plenty of classics to shake our booty to.

The same applies to the 14 tracks on the new album, which are not called songs, but episodes. They are a combination of old songs and new, with his collaborators including DJ Jazzy Jeff, his son Jaden Smith, Teyana Taylor and others.

Apart from launching an album, Smith has continued to steal our hearts with his little comedic moments. One of them includes a TikTok video featuring Doechii, where the icon recreated one of the most celebrated scenes in his repertoire.

Expert Claims Will Smith Dropping An Album Just Screams He’s Desperate To Be “Likeable” Again
Wow, despite thrilling fans with his Big Sean and Obanga collaboration ‘Beautiful Scars’ – which saw him throwback to the time he turned down ‘The Matrix’ – an expert has claimed that releasing songs “won’t erase the slap.”

“The nostalgia campaign screams ‘I peaked decades ago,’” Eric Schiffer, a PR expert and chairman of Reputation Management Consultants, told Yahoo Entertainment. “Fresh Prince is iconic, but leaning on it now feels like Will saying, ‘Remember when I was likable?”

If memory serves me right, Smith apologized to Chris Rock shortly after the whole slap incident, but Schiffer believes he should do another one – a more sincere one.

“If he wanted redemption, he should’ve dropped a sincere apology, not a playlist,” Schiffer said. “An album won’t erase the slap — it’s like trying to patch a trainwreck with Scotch tape.”

He then attacked Smith’s “TikTok stunts,” saying, “Virality doesn’t equal redemption.” He further noted that Smith is “acting like a TikTok dad who doesn’t know when to log off.”

He added: “Will’s goodwill isn’t gone,” said Schiffer. “It’s buried in deep earth under skepticism. Public grace is earned through sustained humility and effort.”
I have no words, do you?
