Fans React To Elle Fanning ‘Sunrise On the Reaping’ Casting News

‘Sunrise on the Reaping,’ the prequel to ‘The Ballad of Songbirds and Snakes’ and to the events of ‘The Hunger Games,’ is yet to comfortably settle in the hearts of fans – via the book, I mean – and already production on the movie adaptation is underway.

The latest name to join the movie adaptation is one we know too well: Elle Fanning. Can I just say that I totally understand why fans are so ecstatic about this casting choice?

Elle Fanning Eyed To Play Younger Effie Trinket in ‘The Hunger Games: Sunrise on the Reaping’

Elle Fanning will be joining the upcoming ‘The Hunger Games’ adaptation. According to reports, she will be playing the younger version of a character we met throughout the first four films in ‘The Hunger Games’ franchise.

Nexus Point News originally broke the casting news, writing, “Fanning would portray Effie before her time as the escort for District 12, 24 years before the events of the first film.”

Francis Lawrence, who has directed every ‘The Hunger Games’ movie since ‘Catching Fire,’ including 2024’s prequel adaptation ‘The Ballad of Songbirds and Snakes,’ will once again be returning to direct.

‘Sunrise on the Reaping’ serves to give fans a glimpse into what transpired leading up to the games we know it from ‘The Hunger Games.’

The story kicks off on the morning of the reaping of the 50th Hunger Games, or, as you may recall if you’ve read the books, Second Quarter Quell. A young Haymitch Abernathy (played by Woody Harrelson in the previous film) is the protagonist.

Elle Fanning’s slate is a pretty jam-packed one. Last we saw her, she was starring beside Timothée Chalamet in the Bob Dylan biopic, ‘A Complete Unknown.’ At present, she’s got a starring role beside the predator in ‘Predator: Badlands.’

If you ask me, Fanning has an impressive repertoire under her belt because the actress knows how to deliver beautiful material everytime.

Needless to say, fans had a general positive reaction to the news, with one writing, “Elle Fanning is a really good actress. So this would be an excellent casting.“

“She’d be perfect!” a fan on X gushed, with another agreeing, “Suddenly I’m a big Elle Fanning fan after watching A Complete Unknown yesterday.”
