Garrett Hedlund Arrested For Public Intoxication
TMZ reported that the 37-year-old was arrested in Franklin County, Tennessee, for being intoxicated in public. Bond for the misdemeanor arrest was set at $2,100. By the time PEOPLE contacted the Franklin County Sheriff’s Office, Hedlund was no longer there. Following the incident, Hedlund is yet to address his arrest.
The report of Hedlund’s arrest is coming on the heels of news confirming his split from Emma Roberts. Together, the pair share 1-year-old son Rhodes.
Following rumors that their relationship has hit a rocky patch, an insider said: “It’s sad, and they are trying their best to co-parent. It’s been hard.”Reps for Garrett Hedlund and Emma Roberts, 30, have not responded to media outlets’ request for comment.
The pair started dating in March 2019, and in December 2020, they welcomed their first child Rhodes. The proud parents shared the baby’s name and first picture in January. “Thank you 2020 for getting one thing right,” Roberts wrote at the time. “Our bright light Rhodes Robert Hedlund.”
A source revealed that Garrett was a huge help around the house while Emma was recovering from childbirth, especially in the midst of a pandemic.
“Having a newborn in the pandemic has been a lot harder than either of them expected, but they’re really, really trying their best to figure things out,” the source said. “Garrett totally stepped it up after Emma was still recovering after giving birth.”
The insider added: “He made sure that their house was stocked with things that Emma liked and needed so she felt comfortable. She’s just starting to get back into a more ‘normal’ routine.”
Roberts Hedlund’s Previous Run-In With The Law
Hedlund has found himself on the wrong side of the law more than once in the past. Earlier last week, the actor was sued two years after his DUI charge.
Per court documents obtained by PEOPLE, Hedlund is being sued for negligence by a mother and daughter who claimed they were “severely” injured in a “horrible head-on crash” after Hedlund’s alcohol level tested at .36 percent, four times the acceptable limit, which is .08.
The two filed to get a jury trial and for punitive damages. Two minors were in the car at the time of the accident aside from the mother and daughter.
On Jan. 24, 2020, Hedlund was arrested and released on bail, with a court date set for Feb. 25, according to reports. The “Troy” star pleaded no contest to one count and was found guilty, while the second DUI charge was later dismissed.
After the incident, the “Friday Nights Lights” and “Triple Frontier” actor registered for and completed a 30-day residential treatment program, along with a 9-month, first-offender alcohol and drug education counseling program. Hedlund voluntarily initiated the residential treatment after his arrest.
