The casting choice for the upcoming ‘The Beatles’ biopic was revealed at this year’s Sony’s CinemaCon. Joseph Quinn has been cast as George Harrison, Paul Mescal is Paul McCartney, Barry Keoghan is Ringo Starr and Harris Dickinson is John Lennon.

Just picture that! Ahhh… Maybe it’s a bit too early to start doing that as it will be rolling out in theaters in April 2028, so it’s probably best not to get too excited right now. It’s still a long ways from 2028. Trust me.

Sam Mendes Shares Insights Into Upcoming ‘The Beatles’ Biopics

I think that I’ve heard somewhere about a John Lennon and Yoko Ono documentary being spear-headed by his widow Yoko Ono and son Julian Lennon. Something about it being acquired by Magnolia Pictures.

But these upcoming biopics, whilst being standalone representations of all the four members that made up ‘The Beatles’ and created Beatlemania, will also present the four as a group.

Mendes confidently calls it the first “bingeable moment in cinema,” even though it hasn’t begun filming yet.

Speaking of filming, Mendes admitted that it would take more time than the average biopic, so much time that Sony Pictures Boss Tom Rothman is getting “Avatar flashbacks.”

What Sam Mendes Hopes To Achieve With the Upcoming ‘The Beatles’ Films

Mendes is going into the project with the mindset that The Beatles “redefined the culture and stayed with you for a lifetime” and were perhaps “the most significant band of all time.”

“I had been trying to do a film for years, but I finally gave up” because he felt the “story was too big for one film” and making a TV series of it wasn’t going to do. “There had to be a way to tell the epic story for a new generation … I can assure you there is still plenty left to explore and I think we found a way to do that.”

This means there will be four movies that will likely cut across each other.

To round up the fun ‘The Beatles’ biopics revelations, the four stars playing them told the audience, quoting the band’s “Sgt Pepper’s Lonely Hearts Club Band” song, “It’s wonderful to be here, it’s certainly a thrill, you’re such a lovely audience, we’d like to take you home with us.”

The official logline for Sam Mendes’ The Beatles biopics reads, “Each man has his own story, but together they are legendary.” It is said that Mendes has been struggling with the idea to create a story that captures The Beatles’ individual experiences, just as it does their collective ones.
