The 90-year-old singer, best known for songs like “Sherry” and “Can’t Take My Eyes Off You,” seemed weak during several of his performances, raising concerns about his health and charges against him by his management group over potential elder abuse.
More Details On Valli’s Viral Stage Performance
Videos circulating on platforms like TikTok showed Valli seemingly disoriented on stage. He was behind on choreography in some clips, while others suggested he missed lyrics.
Social media users expressed worry, with comments ranging from calls for someone to intervene to outright accusations that his continued performances amounted to elder abuse.
One user on X (formerly Twitter) went as far as to say, “Whoever keeps sending Frankie Valli out on stage at this point is committing elder abuse.”
Valli’s Response To Comments About His Performance
In response to these concerns, Valli issued a statement to People and TODAY where he denied all such claims and emphasized that he continues to perform out of passion, not obligation.
“I know there has been a lot of stuff on the internet about me lately so I wanted to clear the air,” Valli stated. “I am blessed to be 90 years old and still be doing what I love to do and as long as I am able, and audiences want to come see me, I am going to be out there performing as I always. I absolutely love what I do. And I know we put on a great show because our fans are still coming out in force and the show still rocks.”
Valli went on to explain the artistry behind the Four Seasons’ sound: “The Four Seasons sound was always about layering vocals and instruments. We use our 60 years of experience so we sound like the records. I sing, I have singers who sing, great arrangements… everything.”
Despite the viral speculation, Valli finds some humor in the situation. “I get a chuckle from the comments wondering if someone forcing me to go on stage. Nobody has ever made me do anything I didn’t want to do,” he said.
More Plans To Keep Performing
Ending on a high note, Valli reaffirmed his plans to keep performing for as long as he can. “I plan to be doing shows as long as I can, delivering that great Four Seasons sound,” he added. “Like that line in Jersey Boys, I’m like that bunny on TV, that just keeps going and going and going. Chasing the music.”
Despite the concerns, Valli remains on tour, performing classics like “Big Girls Don’t Cry” and “December 1963 (Oh What a Night).”
His current tour is scheduled to continue through April 2025, with upcoming stops in various states including Minnesota, Illinois, and Texas.
