Friends Star Matthew Perry Expresses Gratefulness To Jennifer Aniston

Hollywood news and updates tease that Matthew Perry acknowledged his costar as he went through his battle with addiction.

Matthew Perry rose to fame when he landed the role of Chandler Bing in one of the most beloved sitcoms, “Friends.” He starred in the show with Jennifer Aniston, Courteney Cox, Lisa Kudrow, David Schwimmer, and Matt LeBlanc. It was all about six people, who lived together in an apartment in New York and were constantly there for each other, especially during life crises.

Last May 2021, the iconic characters reunited for an HBO special titled “Friends: The Reunion,” where they talked about their experiences and their favorite memories when they filmed the ten-year series.

Recently, the 53-year-old actor opened up about his upcoming memoir entitled “Friends, Lovers, and the Big Terrible Thing.” In his latest interview with PEOPLE, Matthew Perry talked about his addiction to pills and other drugs. He mentioned that he reached the point where he would take 55 Vicodin a day and gain so much weight.

Other than that, Perry also revealed that he has been to rehab 15 times and experienced 14 surgeries due to his substance intake. “The doctors told my family that I had a two percent chance to live. That’s the time I really came close to my life ending,” he said.

Amidst his addiction, the iconic Chandler Bing mentioned how the 1994 sitcom saved him. “They were understanding, and they were patient. It could be said that (doing the show) saved me,” Perry stated.

During “Friends: The Reunion,” Matthew Perry admitted that the laughter of the audience was big of a deal for him. He often got frustrated if he didn’t get his desired laughter. The actor also confessed that he didn’t remember three years of the show due to his addiction.

In his latest chat with Diane Sawyer, the “Serving Sara” star shared the confrontation he experienced with his costar Jennifer Aniston. “We know you’re drinking,” Sawyer quoted Aniston.

Perry then revealed how scared he was at that moment and he acknowledged his costar for being supportive during that terrible journey. “She was the one that reached out the most. I’m really grateful to her for that,” he said.
