Readers may recall the disagreement relating to ‘traditional marriage’ between Candace Cameron Bure and Hallmark star, Jodie Sweetin. After Bure’s interview, many Hallmark stars spoke out about their former fellow cast member. It has been a few months since the controversial interview, but now the ladies’ Full House co-star, Dave Coulier has opened up about where he stands when members of his TV family have conflict.

The original sitcom Full House was one of the most successful of its kind and what helped the most was the chemistry between the members of the Tanner family. Meanwhile, the chemistry and closeness are still there between them even now. However, just like viewers saw D.J. and Stephanie butting heads occasionally on Full House, Candace Cameron Bure and Jodie Sweetin were in disagreement more recently over Bure’s “traditional marriage” statement.

Dave Coulier, who was also a star of the popular sitcom, recently spoke out about where he stands when members of his TV family don’t see eye to eye. He told Yahoo! Entertainment that when problems arose, he has “always been Switzerland,” adding:

Everybody kind of tells me, ‘Oh, here’s what she said.’ But we’re like a family, you know? We bicker, we argue, we call people out on their stuff. We have problems with each other, but at the end of the day, we love each other and we kind work through it. I mean, we’ve been through pickups, cancellations, births, deaths, marriages, divorces — the stuff that any family goes through.

‘Family to the core’

With Coulier refusing to take sides when his TV family argued, it seems the cast members do stick together, whatever happens. When Candace Cameron Bure and Jodie Sweetin reunited for 90s Con in March, Bure assured fans that the Fuller House cast is “family to the core.” She added that whatever is going on, the love is always there between them. Coulier, who played Uncle Jesse, added that the cast goes through things, just like any family does.

After reports that Bure had unfollowed Sweetin on Instagram after her comment about LGBTQ+ representation in holiday movies, John Stamos was apparently “devastated” that his “perfect” TV family had been turned upside-down.

What caused the fight?

The original controversy started when Candace Cameron Bure left Hallmark for Great American Family in 2022. In an interview with the Wall Street Journal, she said she thought Great American Family would “keep traditional marriage at the core” of its holiday programming.

Meanwhile, Jodie Sweetin was supported by other Hallmark stars like JoJo Siwa and Holly Robinson Peete. As for Bure, she apparently took issue with the Hallmark stars addressing her concerns publically, rather than talking it out in private.

While it is unclear whether the tension still exists between Bure and Sweetin, they are set to reunite at 90s Con in Tampa, Florida in September.
