After shockingly witnessing the publication of Billie Lourd’s 1-year-old baby’s picture on Daily Mail, the media outlet that he previously referred to as “the worst kind of tabloid”, the 60-year-old actor felt it necessary to plead with papers to refrain from publishing images of his children.

George Clooney – Candidly Pleads With Tabloids To Choose Children’s Protection Over Selling Advertisement

On Thursday night, the “Gravity” star wrote an open letter, asking media outlets to refrain from publishing his children’s images as a result of safety precautions.

George Clooney talked about the “real world consequences” of exposing the images of his four-year-old twins: daughter Ella and son Alexander. He explained that he’s okay with his privacy being intruded on since he already understands that it comes with being an A-list actor, but continued by highlighting the danger the children likely face as a result of their mother’s work dealing with terrorists.

He addressed “the Daily Mail and other publications”: “Having just seen photos of Billie Lourd’s 1 year-old baby in your publication, and the fact that you subsequently took those pictures down, we would request that you refrain from putting our children’s faces in your publication.”

“I am a public figure and accept the oftentimes intrusive photos as part of the price to pay for doing my job. Our children have made no such commitment.

“The nature of my wife’s work has her confronting and putting on trial terrorist groups and we take as much precaution as we can to keep our family safe.”

George Clooney  – Social Media Has Always Been Off Limits

George and Amal have never shared pictures of their children, and, in order to protect them, have kept away from posting on social media.

“We cannot protect our children if any publication puts their faces on their cover. We have never sold a picture of our kids, we are not on social media and never post pictures because to do so would put their lives in jeopardy. Not paranoid jeopardy but real world issues, with real world consequences.”

He concluded his letter by asking that the safety of children should be the first priority over any money-making scheme. “We hope that you would agree that the need to sell advertisements isn’t greater than the need to keep innocent children from being targeted. Thank you. George Clooney.”
