George Clooney Shares The Story Of How He Met & Married His Wife Amal

George Clooney‘s love story is a perfect definition of never say never. George, who was once one of Hollywood’s most notorious bachelors, has revealed how he met and fell in love with his wife Amal Alamuddin. I must tell you, their love story will leave you drooling in amazement because it’s so beautiful, and it’s not what you’ve heard before, trust me, it’s really not the regular love story we’re used to. During George’s appearance on The Drew Barrymore Show, George stole our hearts with the romantic measures he took before and after marrying his wife.

The thing is that, if you had told George he would be meeting his wife via matchmaking, he would probably call you delusional but alas, that’s how it went down for him. Replying to Drew when she asked, “What did you think when you met her?” George replied that he met Amal in his Lake Como during a visit from his friend who arrived in the company of Amal. George revealed that prior to Amal’s arrival at his house, his agent Bryan Lourd called him and said “There’s a girl coming to your house that you’re gonna marry,’” George who was in no way thinking of getting married to anybody said, “And I was like, ‘You’re an idiot. Like, that’s not gonna happen.'”

To cut the long story short guys, the minute George set his eyes on Amal, they hit it off immediately, and according to George, after meeting Amal that day he began writing her letters. I know you’ll be thinking don’t I mean texting, but nope, George wrote Amal letters. Even Drew was wowed by the revelation that she asked George “You wrote her! Like, on pen and paper!?” To that, George replied, “We still write letters.” Drew out of curiosity, asked to know if George is still in the act of letter writing with his wife, “You still write letters!” George answered, “We leave them on the pillow.”

Brief On George Clooney & Amal’s Marriage

George and Amal met in July of 2013, and by October of that same year, they went on their first official date. According to Town&Country Magazine, Amal’s parents asked her what George’s intentions towards her were, she replied that they’ve only been dating for six months. Apparently, six months was all it took for George to decide that Amal is the one for him. On April 28, 2014, George popped the question. And it is as you guessed, there was candlelight dinner, beautiful music, and George propped down on one knee. According to George, it took Amal the whole of 20 minutes before she said “Yes” because she was too shocked to believe what was happening.

The pair got married in September 2014. At first, they tried their best to keep the wedding down, “but eventually somebody figured it out. Oh, my God! Once people got wind of it, it became an event.” Said George to The Hollywood Reporter in 2017. George also revealed that having children wasn’t something they planned before getting married, “We didn’t plan on it. We never talked about it until after we were married, which is funny. There was an assumption that we didn’t want them. And then, after the wedding, we just felt we’d gotten very lucky, both of us, and we should share whatever good luck we’ve got. It would seem self-centered to just have that belong to us.” When they found out that they would be having Twins in 2016, George said that couldn’t believe it, at a point they thought it was a mistake on the Doctor’s part but by June 2017, their twins Elle and Alexander arrived.

How Fans Reacted To George Clooney’s Letter-Writing Revelation

The letter-writing revelation was the bone of contention to fans because granted, there was a time letter writing was considered one of the best romantic gestures, that was then. Now, time has changed, technology has come to stay, texting and emailing have taken over so, when George mentioned that he wrote letters to Amal in the year 2013 which is the 21st century, it wowed fans.

Taking to social media, someone wrote “All the female viewers will now have a whole new standard in their communication via the pen and paper with their partners-to-be.” Another wrote, “As if we can’t love him more….HE WRITES LETTERS!!” And someone Joked “My mail service is so bad any love letters written to me would end up in my neighbors recycling bin.”
