Singer and actor, Rick Springfield, aged 75, best known for his hit, “Jesse’s Girl”, recently shared a shocking health diagnosis. He told People he had a Prenuvo full body scan that revealed brain damage after a fall he took during a 2000 concert in Las Vegas.
Rick Springfield’s Concert Accident
Springfield goes on to tell the publications that he fell 25 feet, hit his head, then wood fell on his head, and he hit his head on the stage once again. He thought he had just broken his wrist.
However, the scan revealed brain damage from the fall. He is currently trying to repair this. Springfield points out that many don’t want to know what’s going on with their health. He adds that his father was one of those people and he ended up dying because of it.
The singer and actor goes on to say that his father believed he had stomach cancer but never got it checked out, and he died.
When he collapsed at home, they found out that an ulcer burst, and he passed away from blood loss – something that could’ve been fixed had he just got it checked out. This was a wake-up call for Springfield.
Rick Springfield’s Youthful State Of Mind
Rick is 75, but he feels like he’s still in his 20s. He keeps himself feeling young by eating mostly a pescatarian diet and exercising daily.
He also cut back on drinking alcohol two years ago, which has assisted with his depression; something he’s struggled with since he was a teen. He notes that he may have a “couple sips of vodka” while he’s on stage, but that’s about it.
Springfield reveals he recently tried ketamine therapy for his depression. He shared that his depression caused him to attempt suicide when he was 17 and he’s even contemplated ending his life as recently as seven years ago.
He told People last month that he wanted to see if ketamine therapy would “open” things up in his brain. He took it for the suggested time but wasn’t a fan. It didn’t change much.
He reveals that he’s more interested in ‘micro-dosing’. In fact, he did acid (something he hadn’t done since his 20s), but it was “better” and a “great high”. Springfield states that he doesn’t want to push drugs on anyone, but this does make him, “… happier and a better person.”
