‘Glee’ Star Chris Colfer Gets Real About Kurt Hummel

Hollywood news and updates tease that Chris Colfer opened up about his initial reaction when he landed the gay role in “Glee.”

Chris Colfer rose to fame when he played the iconic role of Kurt Hummel in the musical comedy-drama series, “Glee.” He stole the hearts of many people, leading him to win the Outstanding Performance by an Ensemble in a Comedy Series during the 15th Annual Screen Actors Guild Awards.

Colfer also bagged the trophy of Best Performance by an Actor in a Supporting Role in a Series during 2011’s Golden Globe Awards. Following his success on the screen, the 32-year-old actor followed his passion for writing and published his first children’s book entitled “The Wishing Spell” last July 2012.

In one of the latest episodes of Kevin McHale and Jenna Ushkowitz’s “And That’s What You Really Missed” podcast, Chris Colfer opened up his heart when portraying the role of Kurt Hummel in “Glee.” His character was an LGBTQ representation that showed the tragic experiences a gay student may experience in a private school.

“When I found out they had written this character for me, I was thrilled. And then, when I finally got the script, when I realized it was the gay character, I was terrified,” Colfer stated.

He was even more scared when a member of his family discouraged him to play the role as it would “ruin” his life. However, despite all the negative words he heard from people, Colfer was thankful for landing the role as it helped him to come out of his shell.

In other news, “The Land of Stories” author indirectly expressed his thoughts towards his costar, Lea Michele. During his recent appearance on “The Michele Collins Show,” the host opened up about her experience watching a Broadway show.

She then invited her guest to watch with her, but when Collins confirmed that she was referring to Michele’s “Funny Girl,” Chris Colfer sarcastically rejected the invitation. “My day suddenly got so full,” he said. When asked if he has plans to see the show himself, the actor immediately responded, “No. I could be triggered at home.”

Following all the allegations about Michele being the root of the toxic work environment, it was Colfer’s first time to open up his mind about the actress. Other than him, Samantha Ware and Heather Morris, who were both from “Glee,” also brought up their sentiments about the chaos Michele brought to the set.
