The drag star who dated Norton on and off in the noughties revealed that she faced judgement and criticism for her relationship with the chat show host, adding that she had been accused of being with him for his money.
Tina Burner Was Quizzed On Her Past Relationship With Graham Norton During Drag Race
During a recent episode of Drag Race, Burner was quizzed on her romance with Graham as the queens discussed trolling and social media. She said, “Graham is so famous, he’s at that level where your life is just like put on a platform. He’s such a great guy and it never ever got to him. It was the most amazing thing.”
In a confessional video, the drag star further added,” I remember people passing judgement on me right away when they don’t even know me: ‘Are you after his money? Are you this? Are you that?’ I mean people want to draw their own opinions.”
Graham Norton Recalled The Heartbreak When His Whirlwind Romance With Tina Burner Ended
Norton recalled his relationship with Burner in his 2014 memoir The Life And Loves Of A He Devil, writing about the night he first met Tina – birth name Kristian Seeber – at New York’s Barracuda bar. Norton went onto describe Seeber as “tall and broad-shouldered with an easy smile that took up half his face.”
Their romance lasted several months before the couple split and then got back together for another six months when Kristian moved into Graham’s London home, in a move the chat show host said ended up being a “disaster.” He however added that he had been “heartbroken” when the relationship with the entertainer came to an end for good.
But The Pair Have Only Good Things To Say About Each Other
In his memoir Norton also admitted that his friends weren’t quite as enamoured with Burner as he was, adding that that if Kristian “were to be judged solely on his behaviour, then I concede he was not great boyfriend material”.
However despite the disastrous romance, the host praised Tina for the “special spark that fires with him,” saying “when he decides to shine his light on you, it makes you feel as special as he is.”
He continued that despite the heartache felt at the moment the end of their relationship seemed inevitable, “I realise that even to a perfect stranger the outcome would have been glaringly obvious, but when you are in the middle of something and you are desperate for it to work, you’ll try anything.”
Presently Tina is part of Drag Race’s historic 13th season having made her debut and Graham currently serves as a judge on the Drag Race UK panel
