Greyson Chance Rants Out On How Manipulative Ellen DeGeneres Was Towards Him

Is this a case of biting the finger that fed you? Greyson Chance has come out to expose every terrible thing he feels Ellen DeGeneres did to him while he was still signed to her record label. Let me run a recap on how the two met in the first place.

Greyson’s rise to stardom started in 2010 back when Greyson was still a 12year old in his sixth grade. Greyson made a performance of Lady Gaga’s song “Paparazzi” and uploaded it on YouTube, his performance of the song was so beautiful that it went viral, Ellen saw the video, invited him to her show, and there and then, opened a record label, signed Greyson and assigned him good managers that have worked with celebrities. Greyson immediately began doing well for himself and releasing new albums.

Greyson Chance — Greyson Alleged That Ellen Dropped Him The Minute He failed

Speaking in an interview with Rolling Stone on Thursday, Greyson alleged that while he was signed under Ellen, Ellen began to control everything about him even down to what he should wear and his costumes for music videos, Greyson alleged that “My whole week, my whole month, my whole year could change [with] one text message from her, that was horrible.”

Greyson also said that Ellen would walk into the dressing room to yell and berate her workers and stylists in his presence, degrade his choice of clothes then go ahead to pick a clothing of her choice and command him to wear it. “She would come in and look at a rack, yell at stylists, berate people in front of me and say, ‘This is what you’re wearing on the show.'” Two years after Greyson was signed, his musical career came crashing down due to failure to sell tickets and release albums. According to Greyson, that period marked the beginning of the end of Ellen ever helping him. Greyson said that Ellen turned her back on him, starting from not picking up his calls to gradually dropping him.

Greyson’s allegations is coming after a few of Ellen’s workers, both past and present, complained of a “Toxic Work Environment”. This is not the first time Ellen’s workers are complaining about the working conditions. In 2020, some of Ellen’s staff complained about her being racist and sexually abusive to her workers. Three dropped out while investigation commenced and it resulted to Ellen apologizing profusely to her workers.

This part deserves a good old jaw-dropping facial expression, the kind that’s meme-worthy. So, Greyson took to his TikTok to discuss his interview with the Rolling Stone and how some people would see it as being ungrateful. Greyson said that he “stand behind” everything he said, he even added that his presence on the Ellen DeGeneres Show caused him PTSD.

Greyson alleged that there was one time Ellen asked him to watch a documentary “Never Say Never” of then young Justin Bieber and inculcate it to his style but Greyson couldn’t watch it because he was on a tour. When he returned, he still didn’t watch it right away because he was really exhausted. Ellen didn’t take it lightly with him as she called his mother Lisa to “berate” her by asking, “What type of mother are you?” While telling Greyson that “Disappointed isn’t even remotely what I’m feeling right now.”

During his interview with Rolling Stone, Greyson also shared how he was invited multiple times by Ellen’s show to make an appearance, including when the show was wrapping up but he declined “How in the world am I supposed to sit down and say I’m so thankful and let her take that moment? I couldn’t do that. So I turned down a national-TV gig on the eve of an album release, which is probably not a smart thing to do, but I had to do it for my integrity.”
