Gwen Stefani Reveals Her Romance With Blake Shelton Was Once Problematic

Gwen Stefani and Blake Shelton have been a thing for a while now, ‘happily married’ for approximately three years. The two have also collaborated on music projects together. However, the couple has faced their fair share of rumors that there is trouble in paradise.

The singer and The Voice coach recently revealed that that romance with Shelton was initially a bad idea.

Gwen Stefani’s “Problematic” Comment

Stefani and Shelton met in 2014 on The Voice when the two were both coaches. With that said, she was still married to then-husband, fellow musician, Gavin Rossdale. After they split, Stefani and Shelton began dating in 2015, but she recently admitted she was concerned about taking their romance to the next level.

She told Us Weekly that as they had just met and both their lives were ‘chaos’, she got to a point where she felt like she couldn’t even talk Shelton because it was so ‘insane’.

Stefani added that she, “… already have enough problems,” and told Shelton,“This is not happening anymore. We’re not going to text or nothing.”

Stefani And Shelton Persevered Though

Still, despite all the drama, the couple continued on, even though they were both in the middle of divorces and the stress hit fever-pitch. But all’s well that ends well, right?

Fun fact, it was Blake who kept preserving, using music to reach Gwen. The twosome wrote, “Go Ahead and Break My Heart” together, and she revealed that writing is what ‘fills’ her.

While she thought she was a California city girl at heart, she ended up moving to Blake’s farm in Oklahoma, and it looks like the two have settled into married life nicely, despite their busy schedules keeping them apart at times.

In fact, Stefani wrote the song “Purple Irises” from the feelings of self-doubt she has at times, surrounding her romance with Shelton. The singer has stated she sees them on their farm, and they are reminders that she married her best friend – which is such a sweet sentiment!
