Back in the ’90s, Paltrow and Ryder were veritable besties – however, things between them soured quickly amid allegations, perceived, or otherwise. At that time, in the 90s, the two were a couple of the biggest actresses in Hollywood with Paltrow starring in The Sliding Door with John Hannah, Seven with Brad Pitt, and Emma with Jeremy Northam. Ryder made her bones with such hits as Beetlejuice with Michael Keaton, Bram Stoker’s Dracula alongside Keanu Reeves, and Johnny Depp’s Edward Scissorhands.

The couple even dated Ben Affleck and Matt Damon who were also best friends and shooting stars in their own right. The four were constantly seen together and photographed having fun, often at glamorous events.

Unfortunately, according to Express UK, that all came to an end when Paltrow was accused of ganking a part in a movie from Ryder after seeing a copy of the script for “Stranger Things” in Winona’s home.

There was various version of the story but most point to the fact that Paltrow either swiped the script from the actor’s home or otherwise contacted her agent and asked them to get her an audition for the same role. The story ends with Paltrow not only landing the role but winning an Oscar for her performance.

Of course, Paltrow has always maintained her innocence in the matter. She was asked about the issue back in 2015 on Sirius XM and she shot back “That’s an urban myth. I swear to God I did not, I’m raising my right hand on the bible. I swear to God.” Later, in a Goop newsletter, Paltrow took a jab and her ex-BFF “Back in the day, I had a ‘frenemy’ who, as it turned out, was pretty hell-bent on taking me down.”

Venomous And Dangerous!

She reportedly continued, speaking vaguely about a “person,” saying “This person really did what they could to hurt me. I was deeply upset, I was angry, I was all of those things you feel when you find out that someone you thought you liked was venomous and dangerous. I restrained myself from fighting back. I tried to take the high road.”

Eventually, she clarified who she was talking about, saying, “But one day I heard that something unfortunate and humiliating had happened to this person.
