Throwing stuff at artists has become an invasive trend that needs to be addressed for the safety of the performers onstage and fans alike.
When Bebe Rexha was hit on the face with a phone, we all shared our sympathies and wished it would be the last. But for some reason, instead of fading back into the bag of bad ideas it came from, more and more concertgoers started to embrace this harmful trend.
No wonder Adele took to daring her Las Vegas fans to throw stuff at her.
Harry Styles Hit in the Eye By Flying Object
While performing Saturday night at Vienna, Austria, Harry Styles was hit in the eye by a thrown object. Concertgoers started embracing the trend as a way to capture the noteworthy moment and gain clout on social media.
He was hit when he was walking across the stage between songs, and when it happened, he covered his eyes and bent down wincing from the pain. However, this is not the first time that Styles has been hit in the face during a performance.
Last year, he was struck by someone throwing Skittles during a Las Angeles concert, and suffered a hit from a thrown chicken nugget at a New York show.
Artists who have suffered from this trend include Bebe Rexha, Pink, Drake, Kid Cudi, Steve Lacy, Kelsea Ballerini and Ava Max.
Max addressed her incident, which involved a fan running onstage and hitting her, on social media, writing, “He slapped me so hard that he scratched the inside of my eye. He’s never coming to a show again thank you to the fans for being spectacular tonight in LA though!!”
Rexha, who suffered the worst hit so far, went on to share pictures of her reddened and swollen eye, writing, “My eye black and blue now but much better!!!! Thank you!!!” At the time of the incident, she collapsed on stage and the 27-year-old perpetrator was arrested.
