Had it been that Henry Cavill had the slightest idea of the movie “Twilight,” he would have auditioned for it and, who knows? He would have been our “Edward Cullen” first, before becoming our “Superman.”

Back in the year 2007, Stephenie Meyer the author of the book “Twilight,” wrote in her personal blog that she lost the perfect person she had in mind to play the role of Edward from her Twilight novel. Stephanie wrote, “The most disappointing thing for me is losing my perfect Edward.”

Mourning her loss, she revealed the then age and name of her perfect cast while revealing that she had no influence over who casts in the film. “Henry Cavill is now twenty-four-years-old. Let us have a moment of quiet in which to mourn.” The cast was given to Robert Pattinson.

Stephanie who still had hopes to have Henry as cast in the movie said, “Not willing to relinquish Henry completely. Since I hear that Charlie Hunnam refuses to consider scripts which include vampires, I propose that Henry play Carlisle.”

Henry Cavill — Henry’s Thoughts On Being Cast As Edward

The star of “The Witcher” Henry, 39, made an appearance on the October 26 episode of “Happy Sad Confused” podcast. There, Henry replied to Stephanie’s wish about him being her ideal cast for the role of Edward.

The host Josh Horowitz asked Henry if he was jealous of Robert, 36, for being cast as Edward instead of him, Henry replied in the negative before revealing that first of all, he had no idea about the movie otherwise he would have auditioned for it.

“No, not at all, because I didn’t know about the movie, and I didn’t know about them wanting to cast me. The internet wasn’t quite as, wasn’t quite the tool that it is now,” Henry added. “So, yeah, I only found out afterwards and I was like, ‘Oh, okay, that would have been cool.'”

Not being cast as Edward isn’t the only thing Henry lost to Robert. “The Man From The U.N.C.L.E” actor also revealed that he lost the role of Cedric Diggory in “Harry Potter and the Goblet of Fire” to Robert. Henry said that he and Robert both auditioned for the role but in the end, Robert was picked.

Speaking of the lost Harry Potter cast, Henry said, “Yes, I remember that. I definitely auditioned for that one and I did not get it. The audition may have gone well, it may have gone terribly, I’m sure someone out there has footage which hopefully is locked away and never will be seen, but yeah, I didn’t get it. It wasn’t right.”

Henry Cavill — About Henry’s Upcoming Superman Movie

Henry made a cameo appearance as Superman in the Black Adam movie, and afterwards it was reported that a new Superman movie is in the making.

Talking about being cast again as the Superman after five years, Henry said, “The character means so much to me. It’s been five years now? And I’ve — quite rightly, otherwise I probably shouldn’t deserve to wear the cape — I’ve never given up hope, and it’s amazing to be here now talking about it again.”

Henry added, “There is such a bright future ahead for the character. I’m so excited to tell a story with an enormously joyful Superman.”
