The “Keeping Up With The Kardashians” alum Kendall Jenner recently attended the “2023 Forbes Under 30 Summit” on Monday, October 9, and shared how she was able to navigate her career shift and “overcome” the “challenges” that came with it.
During the interview, Kendall, who was a supermodel before becoming a brand owner and founder of 818 Tequila, said, “The shift into being a founder and owning my business, was a really cool way of getting to know myself.”
Kendall Jenner — On Kendall’s “Mistakes”
The reality tv star went on to explain how the mistakes she made in her early beginnings have helped her a great deal and she has come to know herself and how she handles things.
“You face challenges, you make mistakes—knowing yourself and knowing how you handle things, and then moving accordingly, is super important.”
“There’s a learning curve to it all but working with integrity and authenticity is always going to create positive results.” She further spoke about self-discovery being her final bustop. “I feel like I’m also in a really transitional period in my life,” she explained. “Spiritually, work-wise, mentally, like I think I’m just kind of really coming into my own.”
One of the challenges the 27-year-old faced when her Tequila brand was launched in 2021, was undergoing a competitive taste test in March 2022 against actor George Clooney’s Casamigos, and Dwayne “The Rock” Johnson’s Teremana. In the competition, The U.S. Sun reported that “Six BuzzFeed writers participated in the taste testing of celebrity-owned alcohol brands.”
However, all six of the tequila judges unanimously agreed that Kendall’s brand is nothing to write home about. They even went so far as saying the product was “Un-drinkable.”
Kendall Jenner — No Family Competition
Taking to her social media, Kendall continued her speech by sharing how grateful she is that despite coming from a famous family that bred superstars in different careers, they’ve never had any need to compete against each other.
“I think that one thing that we all have—we all being me and my sisters and my family—is there’s never been a competitiveness between any of us, so I think overshadowing has never been a thing,” said Kendall while adding, “I think I’ve always felt secure in who I am as a person.”
She continued, “Although I have so much more to learn, I think that I’ve come to a place now, at 27, where I’ve never felt more comfortable with myself, and I think that’s what kind of fit in so well with me transitioning into this entrepreneurial side of myself. I think that’s it’s only kind of worked for me better that way. I just feel really, really happy with where I’m at.”
She concluded with, “I feel really fortunate and really blessed that I’m in a position now that I feel really good about where I’m at and I hope it only continues to grow, honestly. And it only gets more and more clear to me of who I am and where I feel I need to be.”
