Fox and Tracy Pollan, Tom Hanks and Rita Wilson, and Kevin Bacon and Kyra Sedgwick gave it a go and, so far it has proven to be the best lifetime decision they’ve ever made.

Oftentimes, it’s been a matter of curiosity to know the secret behind the happy marriage of these famous couples but, it’s a well-known fact that it’s indeed different strokes for different folks.
Kevin Bacon And Kyra Sedgwick’s Secret To Their Happy And Long-Lasting Marriage Is Something You’ll Never Imagine It To Be.
It’s safe to say that Kyra and Kevin embarked on their life journey together with their minds already made up to not listen to marriage advice from any celebrity.
In a March 2023 interview between the star of “The Closer,” and E! News, Krya told the outlet that their secret is, “Don’t take advice about how to keep a marriage going from a celebrity. That’s the secret.”
It might look like Kyra’s response came from her experience all through her 35 years of marriage with Kevin but it may surprise you that she and Kevin have shared this thought for years. Just like back in 2015 when Entertainment Tonight asked Kevin the same question and he replied, “Whatever you do, don’t listen to celebrities on advice on how to stay married.”

Kyra Sedgwick — How Kyra And Kevin Met
The story of how this amazing couple met is like a scene from a film or rather, it should be a film of its own because it is every bit romantic.
Kyra first met her husband when she was just 12 years old, that day, all Kyra wanted to do was make Kevin know she loves his acting.
The then 19-year-old Kevin was grabbing a bite at a deli post-performance, and according to Kevin in a 2014 interview at The Late Late Show with Craig Ferguson, “A little girl was in there who had just seen the matinee, and her brother said, ‘You liked that actor, go tell him you liked him….’ And it was Kyra.”
Fast forward to 10 years later, and Kyra’s previous impressed impression was no longer impressed. In fact, she saw Kevin in a different light which was a jerk. Not that there was anything particular that happened to bring that impression.
It was the day the then 22-year-old Kyra met the then 29-year-old Kevin on set of the 1988 PBS remake of the play Lemon Sky.
As fate had it, Kevin was recently out of the long-time relationship he had with his ex-girlfriend Tracy Pollan, Tracy, on the other hand, was still getting acquainted with Michael J. Fox who later turned out to be her future husband.
So, the second time Kyra laid eyes on Kevin and thought to herself, “‘He’s really cocky and he thinks he’s so cool,'” was after seeing him board the van to their Cambridge, Mass., set, with his black Labrador bounding on ahead of him.
Kevin on his part told Piers Morgan in an interview what his impression of the grown-up Kyra was, “I found her, you know, really very beautiful and sexy and aloof, and I was just immediately in love with her and she was just immediately put off by me.”
Having that in mind, he was determined to do everything in his power to make her his, including regularly taking the whole Lemon Sky cast to dinner after filming.
In a 2012 interview with Conan O’Brien, the “Singles” actress remembered Kevin being, “Very friendly and sweet and every night after work he would say, ‘Who wants to go out to dinner?’ And the whole cast would say yes except for me. And later on he told me that the only person he wanted to say yes was me and I never said yes and he was always stuck with the check, poor guy.”
Kyra Sedgwick — They Went Through Thick And Thin
Kevin finally made his way into Kyra’s heart after several attempts when they filmed a scene that required him to massage oil into her back.
Kyra told O’Brien, “He said to me, ‘You know you’re really tight. Have you ever had a massage?’ Worst line ever.” She recalled Kevin going ahead to recommend to her the service of a masseuse in his hotel.
“He said, ‘You should make an appointment to go see her, and you know, it just so happens the massage room is in the gym and if I happen to be finished with my workout when you’re finished with your massage, maybe we can get dinner?’ And I’m thinking, ‘Yeah, sure, that’s not going to happen. I’m not going to tell him when my massage is.'”
Well, Kyra learned to never say never as she actually gave his masseuse a try and, coincidentally met him rounding up his StairMaster workout and they hit it off from there.
Kyra who had no idea that the whole thing was masterminded by Kevin, thought they met by coincidence. “Years later he told me he had actually called downstairs and asked when I was getting massaged, which is kind of creepy, but whatever,” said Kyra.
Speaking with “Good Housekeeping” in 2010, the “The Game Plan” actress said, “I had no great role models in terms of healthy marriages, but I knew in my heart and soul that he was the right person. It was an unquestionable truth of mine. I’ve never had anything like that before or after.”
Shortly after they began dating, Kevin popped the question in a very romantic way by hiding an engagement ring inside a stocking on Christmas Eve. Kyra said “Yes.”
Back in 2008, Kyra told “Redbook,” “If someone had told me that at 22 I was going to meet the man I was going to marry and at 23 I would marry him and have a child, I would have told them they were out of their mind.”
And, just like every marriage, they had their ups and downs and theirs came after having their children, Travis Bacon, Sosie Bacon. However, they’ve been able to handle it well for 35 solid years.
Kyra once told “Redbook” that, “Everyone has marital struggles—I don’t buy the ‘Oh, it’s so hard, actors being married,’ Man, marriage is hard for everyone. So when we’re on the red carpet and we get the ‘How do you guys do it? No one can stay together,’ I get really irritated. I don’t think our relationship is more or less difficult; I just think you both make the commitment and you make it work.”
