Hilary Duff – Has “A Good Relationship” With The Family Of Her Ex

Imagine going on a date night with your spouse, your ex and their spouse and actually having a great time, enough to want to do it again. Can you even do so?

Well, welcome to Hilary Duff‘s world. The “How I Met Your Mother” star recently revealed that she’s not just on good terms with her ex and his wife, she’s actually besties with them. If you’re thinking it’s messed up, it’s beautifully so.

“I have a good relationship with their whole family,” Duff, 35, said during a Thursday, January 26, appearance on Watch What Happens Live. “We actually hang out all the time.”

Apart from being friendly, they’re also neighbors with Madden, 43, and the “Simple Life” alum, 31.

“I was just in [Nicole Richie’s] driveway, honking for her to come drink wine with us the other day,” Duff said, adding that Richie wasn’t able to join them because she was “asleep by 8.”

“But now we get them to hike together all the time,” she said. “And you know what? It’s lovely.”

Despite her past romance with the “Boys Like Girls” singer, Duff said her husband was cool with her being close friends with her ex and even played a few pranks on them when they newly became neighbors with the Maddens.

“My husband is a giant troll, it’s one of my favorite things about him,” Duff explained to host Andy Cohen on Thursday. “Right when they moved in, for some reason Matt photoshopped a picture of Joel and [brother Benji Madden] in a photo with me on Valentine’s Day with like, ‘Happy Valentine’s Day, honey.’”

Duff dated the “Lifestyles of the Rich and Famous” artist during her teenage years from 2004 to 2006. However, shortly after their split,

Madden revealed that they continued to keep in touch and remained on friendly terms.
