Justin Bieber has always been a quiet guy on social media, that is, until he was trolled for marrying Hailey Baldwin few months after he parted ways with Selena Gomez. Since then, every call-out or backlash from fans regarding him, he’s been responding back-to-back.
Back in 2019, in August to be precise, Justin called out Eminem for singing in a manner that he didn’t like. Well, not exactly that per say, but close enough.
Justin Bieber — Why Justin Called Out Eminem
After his long break from rapping, Eminem’s surprise album Kamikaze which he released in 2018 was a great hit which turned out to be a record-breaking comeback. In the first track of the Kamikaze album titled “The Ringer,” Eminem took a diss at fellow rappers like MGK, Iggy Azalea, Lil Xan, Lil Yatchy, etc.
Despite the album topping the charts that year and the next, Eminem’s diss at these rappers in his music turned out to be a diss battle as they too, dissed him back in their own music. That was when Justin stepped in.
Taking to his Instagram story in an already deleted post, Justin began by saying he’s a fan of Eminem, however, he’s not in support of Eminem dissing the young rappers. He concluded by saying that Eminem doesn’t understand modern rap. “I just like Em’s flow but don’t like that he’s dissing new rappers, I like the new generation of rap, he just doesn’t understand it,” wrote Justin in 2019.
When Justin made that post, it went viral just as expected. Fans of Eminem couldn’t wait to hear what the rapper had to say in response to Justin saying he doesn’t understand modern rap. At the time, comments like “Justin Bieber telling Eminem he doesn’t understand rap 😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂 dead” and “I’d pay money to watch Justin Bieber try to explain anything about hip hop to Eminem” were seen flying around both Twitter and Instagram.
Justin Bieber — How Eminem Responded To Justin’s Callout
Like I said, fans couldn’t wait to hear Eminem’s response to Justin. Unfortunately, the rapper graced Justin with his silence. According to an inside report given to HollywoodLife that year, “Eminem really doesn’t care how Bieber feels about his flow and laughed when he saw what Justin wrote about him online,” said the insider.
“Em is not crazy about Justin’s music, it ain’t for him, so he doesn’t care how he feels about him or who he disses. Em has also dissed Justin in the past and will probably make fun of him again. He is not too mad or scared of Justin and not worried about some war or feud with him. Eminem can take it as well as he can dish it, so it is all good.”
In a throwback interview with XXL, Eminem once revealed that “My role in today’s hip-hop is to always try to be the best rapper. That’s it. That’s how I want to feel inside.” The “Not Afraid” rapper also said that to be the best rapper, he looks up to the younger generation for inspiration. “I look for the younger generation to push me. I don’t have to make albums. I don’t have to do anything at this point. It’s about wanting to, and that’s never changed for me, no matter what level the fame’s gotten to.”
